I want to know the Asic quality of your graphics card to have a reference ... here is mine gtx 970m
you can use gpuz to check it

is fine
-
Ah, indeed it works now. Before it was not showing.
-
post your Asic quality ¬_¬
-
im reinstalling insider build, i cant send u screenshot, but im 100% sure, its same as urs.. 70.9%.. my previous R1 had 78%.. both had same GTX 980M.. R1 with 4GB, R2 with 8GB..
-
i am thinking on be an insider too, but i don't know if this come with issues .... what can i expect ?
-
i've been insider for past 6 years.. so i love to check new stuffs, also i have backup systems.. so i dont mind.. if u have backup system sure u can try.. offcourse, tons of bugs, new feautures, driver conflicts will be there.. anyways Windows 10 Redstone Build Releasing August 2nd, so its almost there. just wait and install the RTM version..
-
thanks ... i am going to wait ...
-
thanks
-
You're welcome
-
you overclocked your gtx 970m ?
-
Yes I have
+240Mhz on core (Somewhere between there and 250Mhz it becomes unstable, haven't been bothered to discover exactly at what point)
I haven't really bothered with vRAM OC but only around +350Mhz on vRAM with the core OC'd
The voltage is at 1.05v -
mine is +150 on core and +400 on memory ... stock voltage... really stable. how much score you got on firestrike ?
here is mine: http://www.3dmark.com/3dm/13422583 -
I don't own 3dmark so I couldn't tell you sorry
-
i have the free version .... and what temps do you get on cpu and gpu while gaming ?
-
I'll download the free version and give it a try then.
It all depends on the game. CPU max I've seen in Black Ops 3 is ~75C and GPU a nice and cool 61C
(This is on auto fans, max fans is a lot cooler...)
Stress tests on my CPU with max fans doesn't even go over 60C

Here are my results. I truly don't know how I posted a lower graphics score when I am clocked 90Mhz higher.

I have a funny story for this. I got my mobo replaced, the first gpu I had is this:
The GPU I have now is this:

same story here, but little better.. 78% first one, second one with 70.9
tried overclocking ?? -
Yeah i run it with 200mhz above stock. With a repaste to ICD7.
-
-
why is ur texture fillrate and pixel fillrate is lower than mine, I used the same stock Vbios u gave me.. I'm using newer version of GPUZ, could you update ur GPUZ and post again..
-
Your image doesnt work. But i will check ot later why mine appears lower. It can be because my precision x was turned off so the overclock wasnt applied. And thisbwas before i started to use the prema bios. Stock bios doesnt offer higher than 135 overclock.
-
i want a 98% Asic to make an insane overlock lol
-
the funny thing is that i have a better score without making an extreme overclock ... maybe your OC is unbalanced
here is my high oc :
-
Asic is an indication of the chip quality but not decisive and dedinitely not the only factor. Power delivery quality is very importsnt as well.
-
yes, but this is not a desktop ... the Dell power suply (240-330)Watts tend to be really good
-
I mean the VRM, capacitors etc. The power phases on the motherboard.
-
how much did u oc to achieve this, seems its close to some of the GTX 980M stock..
-
Ya, ASIC isnt the end all see all.
There have been cards that have gotten a high ASIC and did not overclock very well and there have been cards that have had low ASIC and overclocked pretty decent.
Its a good reference point of sorts but especially with laptops there seems to be much more variables at play.rinneh likes this. -
Another thing we should do in this thread is along with posting our ASIC we should post how high we can get our GPU overclocks.
When doing this keep the CPU and system memory at stock clocks.
That would be some interesting data. -
i am going to try again XD ... i cant remeber the max core frecuency but the memory was something like +560mhz
-
first try ... +320mhz on core +400mhz on memory ... graphic score 9600 is really stable ... i can go far ..

Nicer overclock
Seems you got a nice chip.
Here's my new score after updating to 365.19 drivers
http://www.3dmark.com/3dm/13529656
(Didn't keep CPU OC'd so physics suffered a little) -
lol you are not going to belive me, but i had to use DDU because my gpu didnt want to come back from that extreme overclock lol ..... i had to reflash the Vbios and use DDU. the problem dont was the temperature max 70°C, the problem was that i dont want to use my gpu chip with an overvolt lol, i dont know if that is safe ... but the chip ran really cool :S so i dont know ... i prefer the basic OC
how much you raise the core and mem to get this score ? i have the same score on gpu as you using +150 and +400 -
That was on 240/320
-
FYI there is a BUG with premamod GTX980M 8GB V2 bios.. it throttles after 72c, tested it many times, someone need to post him that.. back to stock bios, no GPU throttle.. +135 rock solid without any volt increase..
-
my problem was nvidia inspector ... that thing once is istalled, is like a virus lol
i have to upgrade my nvidia driver, because inspector imprinted the extreme OC on my driver ... no matter how much times i reinstalled the driver, ddu, safe mode, etc .....
now i am fine with +150, +400 stock voltage ... the vbios is fine as first day ... the vbios from premamod let all in stock ... only move the thermal throttling to 92°C on my case. thing that is a little bit stupid because my gpu dont get more than 65°C in worst case .... 70°C with the extreme oc :S -
i managed to get gpu score 8838 with +180 on core and +300 on memory without increasing voltage, i think i can increase more but i am happy with the results

How can I recreate? Steps? I going to shoot you a PM.

I have reported this already.
http://forum.notebookreview.com/thr...17-r2-and-r3-performance-vbios.780158/page-55
Prema said something else is triggering the throttle, I am not entirely sure. In the meantime I have changed the ac adapter and now use a 330w one. Same thing. My stable clocks with no throttle are 205/350 with 35mv. Once I exceed those I get throttle either on memory bus which goes back to overclocked numbers after awhile or both GPU and memory. It is frustrating as the chip has more potential in it, but I got used to it, I guess... -
I think it isnt getting enough juice from the VRM's. You are reaching the power limit.
