@iunlock - try on your 4K touch
@DeeX - 4K? but 15"
@Georgel - I believe the P870DM uses the same 4K IGZO screen as this one, saw it in eurocom's ebay page

That isn't an IGZO panel. I'll out up a few I have as well, later tonight once I'm home.

As expected. But still much better than the 180 Nits Dell pushed on rebadged AW15. 180 Nits in a expensive laptop is... I can't express my self

Sure thing mate. Thanks for taking the time to do this.

I have a feeling Dell is gimping these panels, because the same panel is doing at least 390 cd/m2 on mine, when checked with the Colormunki Display.
Again, that is a not IGZO. IGZO is a Sharp thing trademark/patent.
And yeah if its the panel that is linked to in the OP, then its the exact same thing. But brightness seems to be slightly higher as stated above.Georgel likes this. -
I know its not "IGZO" and just regular IPS.
Same panel as Eurocom's super-gouge 600+usd here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/AUO-B173ZAN...43-94mm-LCD-/111894039402?hash=item1a0d678b6a

Yeap, i installed the one in my system on my own. Most resellers charge $600+ for this. Which is stupid IMO. The cable + Panel costed me around $300 total. The panel prices have dropped quite a bit since new better panels are about to come out in a few months.
But why write it off as IGZO when its not, most new members are already confused about panel types, they will just get confused further. Also its not the typical IPS, it uses a newer and slightly different colored back light.
AUO calls this - AHVA.Georgel likes this. -
better panels? :0 - datasheet please
also, there's an eDP controller board, wondering if I should make a ghetto 4k display lol...
question is, will color accuracy take a hit?

Exact panel details are not out yet, but the newer ones will be with higher refresh rates. Also high gamut FHD panels with G-Sync. The price drops on these panels were right before Computex, so you know why the price drops are happening
They even show cased the new panels at Computex i think.
Thanks for linking to that display board, i was searching for one last week. but you sure its 40pin eDP? I might actually make this a bed side display stuck to the wall, if i change to a newer panel in the coming months.
I dont think the Color Accuracy will take a hit if the specs are up to par to support 2 Lane 40 pin eDP panels.Georgel likes this. -

Definitely a new way to make use for wall or ceiling paper lol....how about that eh.
I assume the new AW refreshes will be equipped with the newer panels. Let's hope...

Yeap, same :
But it does seem like Dell has done modifications to the EDID. -
Maube not edid edit, difference is 4k auo 870dm has prema gsync capabiltity? -
Yeah, that panel isn't NVIDIA approved though, AFAIK. (i might be wrong)
And i dont think it specifically made for the P870 -
Only Sharp makes IGZO panels
Only the review model had the samsung 220nits but performing as a 180nits panel. They all come with LG panels. The panel used still not great is between 220 and 250 nits depending if you are lucky. BUt still you alway slove to take one exampel and portray it for everything else out there.
It also depends what coating is used. They often measure the luminosity before adding the protection layer. Almost no screen on the market matches the specs because of this. -
Quality Control quality control. You should not have been through a silicon lottery when you buy a fairly expensive laptop. Say what you will, but such a trashy screen is not what you should expect in such a laptop model!!
-
Start evaluating other brands their panels as well. Then start preaching the one off **** panel as representative for the rest of their laptops as well. Because that is what you do here.
Not that the LG panels in the 15inch fhd are the cream of the crop. But decent after calibrating it. Without it is too yellow.Last edited: Jul 13, 2016iunlock likes this. -
what panel in 15 fhd?
-
In the r1 the excellent LG156WF6 sbe1.
In the R2 the LG156WF6spe1. A lower nits version with less blue light. -

Dear Gentlemen, I'm trying to find a good 4K replacement for my Sky X9E P870DM-g, hope that it will fix my problem. I found many on eBay I don't really know which one is right and better, I don't care if it's used.
My cards and x screen supporting Gsync. I heared about special cable for 4K I need to know where I can find it as well.
Please advise:

afaik the screen is the same regardless if your system is gsync or not, so all the screen you linked is plug and play
-
Thanks, This is sounds good, so I just get the cheapest one, that's all, no need for any cables or something else?
-
Make sure you have a 40 Pin eDP cable and not the 30 Pin.
Also the cheaper the screen, the more chance that it is from a rejected lot. BUt that is speculation of course.Dr. AMK likes this. -

It will be better if I can buy from any NBR members if available.

Yeap. But RjTech's website has those for $45 . And i think even cheaper on Aliexpress.

$50 on Ebay http://www.ebay.com/itm/Clevo-P870D...133780?hash=item4d534e7a14:g:fkAAAOSwUKxYj4Rp
And @Dr. AMK You're sure you want 4K?Dr. AMK likes this. -
I don't like 4k, even I never use the laptop screen, always connected to an external 4k screen, but as I'll pay anyway for new screen I'll just get 4k to add a selling point as some of my friends mentioned that he may need it, I'll fix the laptop and I'll sell it as soon as I can after good testing to make sure that everything is OK.
If you advise that it's better to go for 1080p I'll respect that as well.

If you repair to sell your laptop, do it as cheaply as possible. But the main thing is that you manage to sell it, and at a price you are happy with

No need to be happy with this laptop any more, I suffered too much with it , I'll just let it go to another person after telling him the whole story. Maybe I'll buy a used DM3, new KM1 or maybe the new Tornado. This is my pesonal laptop and I was proud owning it, but as you said it's only a bad luck.

I don't know if that can happened?! and the shipping cost to canada is almost $500 to send and get it back. My problem already been discussed in other thread and I already tag Eurocom support but they didn't contribute.
Maybe I'll need to change the MB as will, I'm still not sure until now that the screen is the problem. I'll just keep fixing until I feel that I can sell it with confidence.
This machine was the best Sky X9E with 980m SLI ever created.

A screen replacement is ok and not so costly, but if you have other problems like the MB... Get it repaired under warranty.Dr. AMK likes this.
