Yes, but nothing about 60Hz support.
    For example the HD4400 onlys support 4K @ 30Hz.

Owners, how are the speakers? Any recovery media included, or just a restore partition?

    Thank you!

Use the display port. It can output 4K at 60 Hz.
Well, we already know it has to be at least 48 Hz thanks to the Lenovo Y50 UHD.

Speakers are good. Clear and loud - base is there but lacking. Overall good speakers though.
No recovery media in mine and yes just a restoration partition.

So just called dell and asked why my unit with the i5 was taking so long, 1/15, and was going to reorder to get the computer faster, weird. Ended up talking to my sales women about the i7 and got it for around 125$ more then my original price so only 1300$ for everything minus the ssd upgrade, which I don't really want bc I'll be upgrading to the wd black^2. Same ship date but with the better processor so all in all worth the wait

Ps my page order page says 5500u as well, and she basically confirmed that dell will be using all new generation processors and that's why there is a longer wait!!!!!!!!

Interesting... and you are better off probably getting your own SSD. I am strongly considering upgrading to the i7 then after New Years if the prices are malleable. Unless the policy has changed, Dellienware throws out restocking fees, etc. on an upgrade.

Good to hear about the i7 processor version then. I noticed the XPS Ultrabooks are listed using the current part and not the Broadwell, I bet this is how the part (which you can order and get now) is why it showed up in the Alienware listing in the database behind the ordering process.

    (please excuse the double post)

Ordered mine with the minimal specs (999 dollars) with low res screen (will be using the monitor for gaming and don't game outside). I will be getting a separate SSD card.

This came to be about 800 dollars after tax. Dell gave me a discount when I tried to cancel it.

How does this deal sound? I am now more skeptical about them giving me such a discount...

Obviously that is a great deal even with the lower res screen, no reason to be skeptical, as knowledgeable Alienware vets know you can get good deals if you call in and dicker a bit. Considering the Lenovo Y40 I think it is retails at 800 with a weaker GPU, etc, it's right on target. Hell, you could probably sell it at a profit online.

Truthfully, a 1366x768 screen is not that bad... a few short years ago this was the norm in many laptops..

I'm thinking of ordering the Alienware 13, was going to go with the basic model, do you think it's worth paying the extra £100 to get the better screen the FHD one? I'm not planning on playing games like cod or battlefield, or is it worth paying more now for a laptop that will last longer?

lol buying laptops these days is like buying a car and trying to haggle with the car salesman.
Called Dell and told them i wanted to cancel my order because to buy an HP Omen. then asked if they are willing to give me $!00, after about 10 minutes back and forth only settled for $75.

Yes its worth it to go for the 1080p screen. Not just the pixels, but the 1080p IPS antigalre display has much better viewing angles and color reproduction. the 1366x768 resolution isnt bad but it almost certainty has < 50% adobeRGB and poor color accuracy.

Just thought I should let the guys with long wait times know that you can change your shipping dates if it matches the "Smart shipping" pre build systems. Just got my shipping changed from the 24th to the 11th!
did it all from online chat.

"Agent: I see. If you really want to get the Alienware 13 as soon as possible.

Agent: I can assist you to change your order to this. Here is the link.
Alienware 13 Gaming Laptop | Dell

Agent: As you can see, Shipping starts 12/10/2014.

Me: if you could do that for me that would be great thank you

Agent: upon checking on it. Yes. I can go ahead and reprocess your order to this particular configuration so that We can ship out this laptop tomorrow.

    Agent: How does it sounds?

Me: sounds great! thanks so much! Smile"

Yeah it's amazing what a call can do, between the extra 100$ coming back when it ships and the 150$ dell credit it'll probably cost me around 1300 with tax. But I still need to spend my 150$ credit. what do u guys think I should get, I can't decide?

I didntt think I could apply the credit back onto the computer or its warranty

And I don't think I'll end up buying the amplifier bc I'll really only be using the computer for engineering programs at school

I don't think this is possible once a system hits production incidentally, up to that point I think they can reprocess.

Good steady fps for CS:GO - thanks for posting Sandman!

Wish we could hear a recording of how loud one of these is during full load... ;)

How nice is the screen? I'm looking for something in this size with a FHD matte screen and wanted to know how the clarity/color accuracy are. Think you could test the viewing angles as well?

No, just that. In my household it's a real issue at the breakfast table or sitting on the sofa while wifey watches television :)

For me personally, yes. I think 900p doesn't quit cut it sometimes on my 14", getting to 1080p was a requirement. the 1440p while it will look great will cost a fair amount of fps, so I opted to stick with the 1080p for cost vs sharpness at 13".

Here is an unboxing video. Good effort but it lacks details such as the power box, and general review of the unit.

It's not gone. They just added another configuration, which moved the i7 option to the next page.

I'm not seeing a second page, Brother Dre. I see four configuration options for the AW 13, and they're all i5's. None of them have the ability to be changed in regards to what processor speed or generation it is.On the cheapest one, you have the ability to dump Windows 8.1 for 7, and a couple of them have the ability to change the monitor's resolution. That's pretty much it. It's basically "buy from these options, which cannot be changed" and welcome to the new Alienware where you have the option to pay more, or pay less. No more mixing and matching to suit what you really need. And get ready to see it on the upcoming 17 refresh and introduction of the 15's, as we think they will be.

At this moment, I am very happy my current laptop is still upgradeable, should I feel the need or desire to do so. Shopping on the AW site is like shopping on the regular Dell laptops one now.

Okay, I see that now, but it's not on the main 13 page and there's no link from it to the page you provided. This is really weird. When I go to AW's site on the 13, this is what I get:

    Alienware 13 home page

How do you get to that page? Seems like a normal customer should be able to get to it when ordering online.

I still see all of them. It must be your browser or something.

I went to Alienware.com, clicked "Products" and then clicked "New Alienware 13." It redirects to the page with all of the configurations.

Nope, it's good old-fashioned operator error. I missed it. In my defense, I am a little drunk and was looking in the wrong place. However, speaking for all people who have gone shopping on the Internet while slightly intoxicated, they really should make that link a lot more prominent.

    Cheers! :)

You won't. You should have Broadwell ULV by February.

They are shipping at the end of January and early February because Broadwell ULV will be coming out at that time.

It might be available but just not on the website yet. I saw that the i7's were out in the states. So I used the chat function on the alienware Australia site and she said they were available but just not up on the website as they are just being released. So I ordered one through the sales rep on the chat :)

So, they may be out but the website may not be updated yet
