    Alienware 15 R3 supported NVMe, PCIe

    Hey,

    Is there any list with supported NVMe, PCIe SSD's for AW 15 R3?
    Or its supports all brand NVMe, PCIe?

    Like does it support:
    • Adata sx8200? or there will be issues with compatibility?
    • Silicon Power P34A80?
    and other not so popular brands...


    Classical (2.5) SSD via SATA III, all are compatible without any bugs?

    Laptop has:
    CPU- Intel Core i7-6700HQ - i know OPTANE won't work.

    Sum up, do all ssd's work fine or there are some which will cause compatibility issues?

    Most seem to work fine. I have seen the majority of issues from ssd’s with Phison controllers. You can never go wrong with Samsung....

    Mx500 or any SATA SSD should work. I haven't tested P1 SSD since some people had issue or a BSOD with Crucial and went with Sx8200 Pro. I am unsure if @MogRules and few other solved the issue with their P1 or purchased a different SSD?
    EDIT: Looks like there's new FW for Crucial P1 https://www.crucial.com/usa/en/support-ssd-p1

    Unfortunately I didn't solve my issues, and there was no new FW at the time so I jumped ship for a different brand. I wasn't willing to wait and hope that there was a FW release to fix my constant BSOD issues. I want to Western Digital and ADATA and they both work flawlessly.

    I am using the SU800 , it's in my 2.5 HDD bay. Have not tried updating the FW as it gives me a message about wiping the drive and I can't be bothered to reinstall almost 1tb worth of games at the moment. I didn't spring for NVME storage options as both additional drives are just housing games so the extra speed wasn't needed and in Canada the NVME price tags are still high IMO unless you get a really good sale. The only NVME drive I am running the stock Hynix drive that came in the machine which houses my OS.

    Well, i won't say much. Wiping SSD just for FW update is a hassle.
