Hi all, I'm not sure if anyone still using Winamp but I remember back when I got it to work on my old M14xR1 and R2, so I went in and have a look and the new AW 15's keyboard product ID and notice that it is basically same with the M14x thus last night I went in and mod the old files to work with the new Alienware 15.
It work fine however there is one LED that I can't seem to figure its ID is the Power Button, which mean every light zone will work except for the Power Button.
Here is the link to a YouTube video I made to show the lightshow in action (Download link will be in the description a):
Inside the zip file, I've also include the AlienFX LED Tester so then if anyone want to get it to work with other laptop such as Alienware 13 and 17.
All credit goes to Ingrater who developed this plugin.

Glad to see Ingrater's plugin is still alive and kicking! I helped him develop it with my M17x R1 (which I'm using now thanks to the Asus G73JW finally dying). Looking at the Alienware 15 as I am falling in love with this M17x all over again

Yeah I'm also surprise that it still working fine, I guess Alienware didnt change the code that much. Though I still couldnt figure the power button out.

I gave your plugin a test. Everything seems to work except for the touchpad, which remains dark at all times. For reference, I also ran the plugin on an Alienware 15.
-
You can have it turn on indefinitely by going to the BIOS under the Advance tab (I guess), then look for Touch Pad illumination something like that, then switch it from "Auto" to "On". If you watch the video I include in the Spoiler menu, you will see that the T-pad is actually light up all the time.
The only thing I couldnt figure it out is the Power Button. I mod the plugin using my AW 15, so I'm not sure for other model though. -

Thanks for sharing! Is that modded one only compatible with the Alienware 15? Or is it also compatible with the older m14x R1 and R2? -

Just wondering did you guys try this on iTunes?

The code itself seem to support Both the M14xR1/R2 and AW 15 but for the configuration, that would be no, Because I had to redefine the LED ID again with the one already on the M14xR1/R2 files, however I still have a copy of the M14xR1/R2 files here ( http://www.mediafire.com/download/3xfs73bf3x0z359/Winamp_AlienFX_M14xR1_&_R2.zip , You can also find it in my sig)
It doesnt work, that was the first music player I tried when I got the laptop, that's why I went in to mod the winamp version instead. However when I tried copy the plugin file to iTunes, and maybe because I was using a x64 version of iTunes, it said it is not compatible, maybe someone who install the x86 version of iTunes might want to try out and see if it will work. -
I seem to remember that we once set the input on winamp to the output to speakers (dxout maybe?). Basically, we used winamp to detect the sound and flash the lights... Give that a try?
-
Sure, but I never seen or heard of the dxout file?/plugin? though, But isnt the current plugin also use sound wave to flash the light as well?
