I just updated my bios which it ended up sitting on a black screen.. I waited 30 minutes..nothing new so I turned it off. I powered it back on and now it beeps 7 times and the alien head flashes red 3 times.
What methods can I try to restore my bios ?

I had similar problem, and needed motherboard exchange. Are you still under warranty?
-
I’m not sure. My warranty says unknown so I’m waiting to see if that changes since I just registered the laptop with dell yesterday (take 5-7days to process) the laptop ship date was 2 months ago so it should have warranty since it’s new.
Do they send you a new motherboard or do I have to send it in ?c69k likes this. -
My underwear is always in a pinch when I update my bios.

They should send someone to your place to change MB.

I had as much kick from flashing new Bios as from skateboarding all night in Amsterdam NOT stoneed _\|/_Vasudev likes this.

The previous owner never registered it with dell so I just registered it last night. I’m hoping the warranty eventually shows once the registration is done processing! The ship date was July 27 2018 so should have 1 or 2 year warranty right ?c69k likes this.

Yeah, if it isnt needed I just dont update. The previous gen could be saved still with a certain key combination and USB stick. Not sure sure about the kaby lake and up models.

Definitely minimum 1 year as it is included in purchase price.Last edited: Sep 3, 2018
