Code name?

About a month ago i purchased the base 15" model (early 2015) i am looking around for decals etc for the laptop but everything i find says m15x is there a similar name for my laptop?

 

Haha I'm not sure what you mean. The M15x is an Alienware laptop. The actual name is M15x, the same way there is a Lenovo Thinkpad, you have an Alienware M15x.

not from that side per say, but you get the picture. it seems as if the older models have a smaller trackpad, and the keyboard looks a little smaller.

No, yours is Alienware 15 (2015). That's it.

 

The m15x is a different laptop from 2009/2010. To quote the answer,

That link came from a Chinese vendor, translation from Chinese to English are generally expected to be bad. The official name of the laptop is Alienware 15. But to be specific, the name would be Alienware 15 (Early 2015) - at least that's what it's said on my invoice/receipt.

 

Yep, this is correct. The servicing departments at Dell/Alienware refer the machine as Echo 15, but that would be uncommon to see in the retails. They advertise it as Alienware 15, but perhaps use the Echo term to distinguish among the other systems.

 

You could also look for the Dell part numbers that are on some of the parts. Those numbers are usually added to the items you see online for faster search.

Indeed, the line is called Echo internally and Alienware 15 externally.
