These go for $60-70 online. A seller bait and switched me (his notes said this was a newer Dell Inc. brick) I'm almost debating on keeping it simply because an OEM brick is $140. I had it pulling 213W from the wall for a couple of minutes, it works just fine, has a good weight to it and appears genuine. Which isn't too hard to believe given that Flex did made these for Dell years ago. I suspect then it's just a NOS part.
There are a couple of threads complaining about failure rates on these older bricks. I don't plan on using it much. Just as a spare in the laptop bag for the 3 times a year we go on vacation and such.
Thoughts? Should it stay or go?

Return it, I've helped people many times where they have multiple failures of these cheap PSU's, especially the 240w+ ones. The 90w-120w seem to live a longer life.
I'd invest in the real thing, if it's for an emergency backup, you don't want to deal with a failure the odd times you decide to use it.
Merry Xmas

yeah dangit, that's what the little voice in my head keeps saying. I suppose I will return it then.
seen rogue one yet?hmscott likes this. -
You should be able to find an original dell psu for cheaper. I got one for 80usd. Sealed package everything.

You have to be careful buying from ebay or amazon. There are the $60-80 0FWCRC adapters all over the place and then there are the $100 ones from China.
The cheaper one's have a different label than the one I have from Dell which, makes me think they may be fake adapters.
Considering the legislation going on between Apple and Amazon specifically surrounding this problem I'll probably buy straight from Dell. Thanks though! -
I got it from a shop in the Netherlands selling batteries for laptops and adapters. THe label on mine is just Delta which is the manufacturer of the Dell adapters nowadays. The laptop is exactly identical in weight, measurement, cable, plug etc.
-
All depends on the psu are fake or not.
You know Dell use psu adapters from Flextronics as orginal parts? Delta adapters isn't the only original Dell Power adapter brand more. Flextronics is more used for 240W adapters now. Delta most for 330w. -
I have had a few flextronics adaptors straight from Alienware and they have all failed...I insist on the Delta ones now and have never had a problem with those.
-
I killed two Flextronics 240w from Dell because of benching before I jumped on Delta 330w. Yeah, opt for Delta if you can. I think The Delta models can handle higher peak wattage.

No, I'm a long time Star Wars fan.. I've watched the last ones at home, and likely will this one too.
Here are a couple of reviews I've watched, some love it, some not so much
Seeing as how I've seen all the Star Wars movies a zillion times, especially the first 3, I do remember how the action this movie is based on works out... first the joke:
(if the image is broken, thanks NBR, right click and open image in a tab, try a couple of times and it will work eventually)
Now, if you are trying relate Bothans to Flextronics PSU's, I get it

Hmm you sure they still use that? This is my Delta PSU by the way and the SKU is the same as the Dell branded one. It is really identical apart from the brand on that sticker. As far as I know the 2016 AW's come with this PSU too.

I haven't the Echo model as you know, but I got a replacement adapter from Dell last year... Flextronics as the shipped one. Remember Dell will go after partners who give them the best deal. Not necessarily the best quality. If those power adapters can give rated power, I think that's what counts for DELL. Maybe ask what buyers got in the AW Echo threads.

The Brick I received with mine is neither Delta or Flextronics branded. It looks like this one;
http://www.ebay.com/itm/For-DELL-24...707770?hash=item25c6a84a3a:g:xj0AAOSwgZ1XubNy
I know that they used to be an OEM supplier;
My beef is that flex would seem to fail more often. If I'm buying one of these anyway, I suppose it still makes more sense to buy one from Dell for the warranty coverage.
That's unfortunate because, that brick is huge. If the one I ordered turns out to be Flex branded as well I might return it and pickup the 330W for home and, use the slim 240W (that's under my main warranty) for my bag. -
The PSU you link there is a Delta one. Check the parts number. That part number is from Delta. Same one as mine. Seems to be identical. Just with a Dell branding sticker.Lozz likes this.

Oh? Well great then! Hopefully I'll receive the same from Dell.
Thanks! -
I have seen correct sticker on the web page for the psu, but when people receive the psu, they get something else. Aka fraud. Some return it and some keep it because they need the psu now. 330w Delta is normally a safer choice when you order on web sites outside Dell. Maybe look at the sellers reputation if possible.
-
Please mind what Papusan said in the quoted post though. Make sure you receive the exact same product as specified and not a so called "compatible product".
That might be the case indeed. -
Mine is Flextronics one.
-
Can you take a photo of the label and adapter? Curious how it looks.
-
my 240W is made by delta and my 180W is made by flextronics
-
-
Thanks for the info.
They all have the same SKU it seems.
Does your also have a blue light on the DC plug? -
Yes it does. Its standard issue from Dell for AW and precision models for quick diagnostic whether the adapter is working or not.
-
I guess they are made by Dell's specific only specifications and design then.
-
I have an extra dell branded 240w adapter. As I repeatedly showed the techs that my laptop throttling was crippling my use, they sent in 3 replacement motherboards and 2 of those times the techs just threw me the power adapter and said merry christmas. I can ship it to you for a little more than the shipping cost. I'm not sure if were supposed to talk about these things in the form though. Money exchanges and such.
Drop an email to me [email protected] and reply here otherwise I wont check that email. -
So the new brick arrived and, it's a Flextronics brick.
Although, the regulatory label is different versus the one I bought on Amazon- it's like the one at the top of this thread.
I'm just going to hang onto it. At least I know it's a genuine adapter.
Flextronics 240W adapters?
