I'm currently looking for a 13-14" laptop and used to have an Alienware 13" that I really liked.
I found a really good deal on a 13" ($999 for 1060gtx/256ssd), but I've heard there might be heating issue with this model. Do you suggest I get one or pass on this generation?

13" what? Alienware 13 from the current gen? That one runs pretty cool even at stock.

I just saw the note on the guide. Not sure which gen it meant.
These are the specs:
- Processor: Intel Core 7th Generation i7-7700HQ Processor (Quad Core, up to 3.80 GHz, 6MB Cache, 35W)
- Windows 10 Home 64bit English
- 256GB PCIe M.2 NVMe Class 40 Solid State Drive
- 8 GB DDR4 Non-ECC SDRAM 2400MHz (1x8GB)
- 13.3 inch FHD (1920 x 1080) IPS Anti-Glare 300-nits Display
- NVIDIA GTX 1060 6GB
- 1 Year Premium Support- Onsite Support After Remote Diagnosis and Software Support Warranty
- Free Shipping Included
- Dell Outlet Alienware 13R3
- $1099 Refurbished
-
I would still tear it open and replace the pads with fujipoly and the thermal compound with liquid ultra, just to be on the safe side. the cooler, it runs, the better.
-
Do you think that's a good price for those specs?
-
Refurb prices are usually decent but I would shop other brands too so you have a better idea how much a system with a 1060 would run for. However keep in mind the current Alienware have an outstanding and solid build which not every other company may have.

If it has full warranty, it's a VERY good deal.
How bad are the overheating issues?
