Ik think you need to download the new Nvidia driver before. They just released a Windows 10 ready driver.

I dont think its the graphics driver because its not just that the screen is flickering.. but even when I do type my password in to log in.. it will stay in the log in screen
i uninstalled the nvidia drivers when i was in safe mode after as well and still had the same problem

Ok reinstalled 10 again. Figured out just needed to grab new drivers from dells site. Mic still an issue as Cortana does not pick up my voice. But when using Chrome "ok google" works just fine. Anyone have a solution for this yet?

I just received my Alienware 15. The overall build quality is nice. But I noticed a small gap between the middle of the palm rest near the edge (in front of the touchpad buttons) and the laptop base itself. Which is kidna annoying. Is this a common thing?

Is it possible to re-seat it so that there isnt a gap?

Ok so i have cortana working now and was able to activate windows 10 also. Seems the issue was wifi. For some reason Cortana and the activation feature don't see me online. Soon as i connected wired it activated instantly and all the Cortana features started working instantly.

Hi, I received my alienware 15 yesterday, it was having trouble playing games with the 970m, so I went to dell website and downloaded the recommended stuff there. I downloaded the bios they recommended, but now it won't boot, it just turn the keyboard on and off, what can I do? I'm really disappointed right now

Either call Dell to get it repaired or return it. What BIOS version did you flash? Also, you must be on windows 8.1, right?

I think mine got bricked today, I downloaded the Bios and it installed it and then restarted, but it just went blank. Do you paid anything for the replacement? Did they asked you something, warranty etc?

    Hello Guys,

I am considering to buy Alienware 15 (980M with 4K Touch Option). Here in India it is quite costly ($2828). I am just a bit confused since Intel announced 5th gen i7 this June. Do you guys think Alienware is going to refresh the models ? or Should I just go with the 4th gen. Let me know what do you think.

Here is the full config page : http://www.compuindia.com/laptops-u...b-ram-1tb-gb-hdd-128gb-ssd-aw157161tb4at.html

Guys, should I just go for AW15 with 980GTX and 4K option ? I am confused since Intel announced 5th gen core i7. What do you guys think ? I saw the benchmark and it is not that higher than 4th gen.

A 6th Gen Intel CPU should be launching soon, and I know Alienware will refresh their lineup for the newest CPU.
If you want to wait a month or two for the CPU, then do so. It should be better than the 5th Gen CPUs.

I finally bought the Alienware 15 with UHD Display. The Display is just awesome. It came with Windows 8.1 and upgraded to Windows 10 Home. But I clean installed Windows 10 Pro by disabling Secure Boot. Is there any way I can do this without disabling Secure Boot ?

Also to booth from USB I had to enable legacy option. Can anyone please guide me installing Windows 10 with Secure Boot option or Without enabling the legacy settings in BIOS ?

Never mind I clean installed Windows 10 by creating USB boot drive (using Rufus) with GPT partition table for UEFI boot. Installed Windows with Secure Boot option enabled. Now I have a clean system with no bloat.

Yeah and this time when I erased all drives while creating partition Windows Installer created 2 (recovery and EFI system) more disks (usually it creates one system reserved space).

Anyone know, based on timing of their releases, if the AW15 is due soon for any sort of major refresh (GPU, CPU, etc.)? Debating whether or not to buy right now.

You're probably looking at a late September or Early October release for the mobile refresh. At least that's what I've been told across multiple vendors ( HP, Dell, Lenovo ).

I was also in same dilemma and finally went ahead and bought it last week. IMO the major refresh will be at CES because Skylake CPU's are coming later this year. Also only upgrade you can see is in CPU side. If you are more concerned with GPU then go ahead and get this coz 980m GTX is the best you can get right now.

Also Skylake with 14nm arch is more focused on battery life optimization with less overall improvement in actual performance gain. If you need Skylake wait till Feb 2016 or get it now with 980/970M GTX.

Also keep in mind that the 4K panel is a must. I have used it and now every other screen looks hazy or blurred. That screen is gorgeous. Some scaling issue is there for Win32 but the quality is just too awesome.

With DX 12 coming with Windows 10 I think you should upgrade to Windows 10 as there's no point in using Windows 7 and stuck with DX 11 while you card is already compatible with DX12.

You can activate if you have upgraded earlier and it was activated. After that you can clean install anytime as long as you are installing the same version of Windows.

I have that specification (guessing outlet purchase too?).

It's an odd one from what I've seen so far: The TDP of the CPU and GPU indicate that 180W is marginal but as of yet I have only seen thermal throttling rather than other throttling indicated on the CPU in Intel XTU when running on BIOS A00. Even odder, temperatures reported are well within normal limits at all times.

Annoyingly, I've got a ticket raised for this and headphone jack issues but as I've been rather busy/stressed recently I haven't found time to action the rep's suggested actions (a few hours gaming/logging).

I'd be interested to see what sort of performance you get from yours- mine seems disappointing so far- FPS drops on SR3 and Borderlands 2 during intensive scenes, though GFX settings are fairly maxed out.

My Ativ book 8 also had throttling issues with an AMD gpu from that series. Didnt like it at all because I couldnt pinpoint the problem.

Just recieved my replacement A15. I must say without the build quality issues I had with the first one it is a really impressive machine. The temperatures with mild producitivity are a little high though around 70c. But It's not noticable and in my eyes might provide longer lfor the 2 cooling fans because they are used less. Still must test it with gaming. But checked some 60fps gameplay videos and there is only very mild typical IPS ghosting so no problem there as well. Going to install WIndows10 tomorrow and a few games. But till now I am a happy camper.

Hi there. I'm looking for a 4k 15inch laptop. Primarily for work(software dev) with some sporadic gaming here and there. I've looked at Sager, Lenovo and MSI, but I'd like something with 4+ hrs of battery life. So how's battery life on anw15-7500slv? Also, which panel is it? Samsung or Sharp?

Great battery life, as long as you maintain a medium-light workload. It's a Sharp SHP1430 on mine, not sure about the rest.

This is more a general query but I've found the address bar and tabs on Google Chrome to be really small on my AW15 1920 x 1080 laptop screen compared to my previous laptop's 1024 × 768 resolution screen. I've put the windows scaling to 125% and increased zoom in Chrome to 125% but that just addresses the actual webpages.

Any tip on what I can do (or what you guys did) to address this?

Short answer: no, unless you use the Graphics Amplifier and an external screen.
