I have been seeing the same issues today. Status sometimes disappears and then reappears. Not sure if there's an issue with the Dell tracking servers or what. Had my fingers crossed it would show some hint of shipping out today or tomorrow.

Your order isn't gone it's just the server, I've had one of my order disappear and reappear several times between Friday and now

The 1080 however is sold out. Funny thing is the sales agents claimed the 6820 wasn't going to be sold with the 1070 and now it is....

I just confirmed two things with a Dell agent(unless he's a lying POS). A huge early 1080 batch is being shipped out tomorrow and the 1080 is no longer in stock. Their online server is running a muck due to their holiday shopping traffic.

That's good news overall. Might get my hopes back up that the laptop ships tomorrow and I'll see if fast due to my location.

But if the 1080gtx boards are all sold out, any problem may take much longer to resolve.

Was wondering why my order disappeared a few hours ago. I figured the website was messed up since the page was taking forever to load. What was your guys estimated arrival date before it disappeared? Mine was the 2nd so it make sense they would ship them out tomorrow.

This is crap. I ordered on 11/21 and it was supposed to be in my possession basically already. I inquired about status a few days ago and asked about shortage of possibly the 1080 and my email response was "no it's in production everything is fine." I am speaking with the online chat assistant right now and he is saying that the orders may have delay due to shortages. I could have cancelled my order and ordered the special I saw yesterday that is 300 US dollars cheaper.

My bigger bone of contention is lack of transparency. I specifically asked about possible shortages and was told there are none for my order. Yet it's still in production and now I am hearing that there are 1080s possibly being delivered tomorrow. I don't think anyone has taken hold of a 1080 system yet which begs the question if they even had the cards in their possession before they started taking orders?

edit: Honestly it makes no sense to STOP taking 1080 orders IF they are indeed getting a "huge batch" of 1080s tomorrow. Unless they never had the cards in the first place and are going to scramble to fill the orders that went in in the past 10 days with systems that have been just remaining idle/dormant. Which would have me very worried about the quality of the initial batch of systems that will go out.

the rep assisting me straight told me hes too busy with cybermonday to help me out, call back tomorrow.
all i needed the guy to do was resubmit my order that they cancelled. (he said he can resubmit for the same price i was getting friday)

so im guessing theyre understaffed or something?

Yeah, booking new "first time" orders... getting them "hooked" before they slip away :)

I guess as long as he can keep the same deal, or give you a better one then that should be ok.

Since your first order got canceled, if there is a better order today then I would re-order as if for the first time. The other one is canceled, so it's only fair :)

Is the webpage you're looking at says CONFIRMED, SHIPPED, DELIVERED? There's another page where it actually report the progress before it shipped.

i would but unfortunately the $50 difference kind of bounces my account, i over did it with my other purchase. on the bright side my the other half of my order from friday that wasnt cancelled has moved to shipping.

since there was no uhd alienware with a 1080, i picked up a 4k oled tv to use as an external monitor

Well then my theory of them taking orders MAY be incorrect as yours is on your way to the doorstep. I'm in the US though and the information I get from agents is all over the place. I will wait to see how my rep responds who sold me the system. If I am indeed in a delay, then I will cancel the order and wait for a better time to get one as my system in my sig is still plenty fast. Congrats on your system, can't wait to hear thoughts, impressions and benchmarks. I really want to see the temps under stress to see if the heatsink pipe makes any difference. cheers.

At the beginning of this month I ordered the 1070 version, which arrived and sent back the day the 1080 launched here. So comparing the whole process between the two I must admit that the 1080 was 'in production' a lot longer. The 1070 was only 2 days in production and the 1080 7 days. But the delivery time after being sent from the factory is the same, 5 days. The expected delivery from the 1080 was 11-30, but, like I said, will be delivered today. (the 1070 also arrived a day earlier then expected)

Its here!! (the 1080 version) The scanlines are there, but geezz I honestly don't get what all the fuzz is about. They are not noticeable at all when at a normal gaming distance from the screen.. Here is a pic from the heatsink:

When you compare that to the pics @iunlock posted in his guide it does appear that the heat pipes are thicker on this 1080 version. If you do ever take it apart to repaste can you snap a pic without the plastic cover? I'm curious if they also revised how it attaches to the board.

From the looks of the photo, it attaches the exact same way. But, the pipes are wider which will hopefully help even out the heat dissipation across the CPU and GPU dies. If we are lucky, this heatsink could solve the temperature problems, and be a direct fit for all AW17 R4 motherboards.

It would be great if the new, wider heatsink from the 1080 GTX could be put on the 1070GTX motherboards.

I wonder if the heat pipes on the 1080 put more pressure on the CPU plate, since the gap is filled now.

I can run firestrike, but which test would you like me to do?? I don't have much time, is there something I can do quickly?

You can try running Unigine and Prime95 to test the thermals. Unigine will how it performs and it actually raised the temps of my CPU more than Prime95.

    Here's my Unigine results http://imgur.com/a/lwEKR

Thanks for doing all this testing. That firestrike score is very disappointing. I would update to the latest driver first. But I noticed on some of your earlier screen shots you are already in the 90s for your CPU on a brand new laptop. This looks to be a systemic problem. I think if you overclock your CPU (which is probably just done in the bios by going to level 3) you will probably hit high 90s minimum. Sad because I can't imagine you were running your PC very long to hit 90. My alienware 18 hit 90 after 2.5 years of ownership and after some other problems, it was replaced. It always runs in the 70s-80s on the stock thermal paste. I'm really debating if I want to return my system when it gets here or just do a repaste. I just ideologically have a problem having to repaste a CPU to make it run to factory spec. It's an easy and cheap solution but it makes me question the integrity of the entire system. The 1080 card is a very nice upgrade to my 880m SLI but it's not like I HAVE to have a new computer right now.

Make sure you run benchmarks with gsync off or your scores will be skewed. Thank you for being an early adopter tester. I'm glad to hear about the display isn't as bad as some made it out to be. We're still disappointed in the temps that will require a repast which doesn't bother me much but it will to many others.

Oh no worries...they're on the way. :)

Full Tear down soon...you can count on it...

I've been experimenting with a fix for the CPU side of the heat sink and it's working well...very clean...no ghetto rigged stuff. Hang tight as I'll include it in the initial tear down.

That is one thing that I've been eager to try, although the GPU side will be very different with the contact points due to the VRM locations....as soon as my unit arrives, I'll see if everything lines up on my AW1070 for fun...I'm thinking that the screws will line up, but the GPU side will not seat properly.

Roger that! This is what we've all been waiting for....

See the gap on the 1070 heat sink? I was thinking they would add an extra heat pipe, but I'm glad that they went with a wider / thicker heat pipe, which makes more sense...it's clear that this heat sink design was made as a mold to service both the 1070 and 1080.

Don't be sad. It is what it is. There are no surprises here. With these gaming laptops, it's a given...just the nature of the beast. - Now the fun begins...

Take all those stock figures with a grain of salt. In fact, if you take the stock figures of the AW1070 and compare it to my post below.....there is hope and a lot of it! :) Don't worry I along with others will unleash this Beast...

Yea it's unfortunate, but if one is worried about temps and is not willing to get under the hood, the GTX 1080 let alone the 6820HK is not for them.
