    We don't know anything yet bro.

    About your touchpad issue, why don't you just disable it using FN + F11 and use a mouse?

    Doesn't work for me either, I'm on 1.3.2.

    I just used some app to hide specific windows updates and hid it. WuMgr

    You running macOS on your Area-51m? If so, which version and what doesn't work? I have Mojave on a separate drive right now but the iGPU isn't properly loading (8MB vRAM). Also no sound, ethernet, wi-fi, power management, etc. But iGPU/TB3 would be priority.

    Is this still valid? I am trying to get this also but when I go to my games, in Collected Game Keys it only shows SOMA and it has the button to collect the key. There is no Division 2 there.

    I made a video 2 days ago about the throttling of the 1.5.4 bios and sent it to Umar, this is his answer :

    I saw some posts about the previous BIOS versions and how they are unavailable from Dell, however, I still see them as available if you follow the drop down from the Dell Support web page under the current BIOS version. There you will find a hyperlink for Older Versions, which takes you to a pop up showing the general versions. Click one and it takes you to the download detail page where you can download...

    Well 3 days ago dell moved my estimated delivery date by a month, today they cancelled the order of my replacement unit due to no availability of some components. I enjoyed my a51m when it was working but now i am done with dell and alienware, really disappointed.

    Where did you ordered, Europe, US or somewhere else ?

    Because I can still see the RTX2080 and i9 9900K in the list. I also had an update of my order because of unavailability of that parts, I cancelled but they called me 3 days later because it was In Stock.

    Did they told you what was missing ?
    Can you get a refund ?

    I ordered from europe, on dell website they still have available the rtx 2080 and all the other parts which are in my order. They cancelled it out of nowhere now. I didn't ask what is missing so far, i am so pissed with them. I will call them tomorrow in order to get a refund, but man this is really unbelievable..

    I ordered mine the 4th of June, and it was shipped out the 10th and arrived here on the 24th. At the time there was no shortage of the components so 2 things may be happening here: the combo 9900K/RTX2080 is very popular, or they may be backlogged due to additional quality controls. Had that a couple of years back...

    From the P.O.V of someone who had a unit that died after 2 weeks of run and then waited 2 months to have finally a working unit, it seems like I've lost all notion of "long" or maybe this story teached me alot about patience ...

    It could also be that I'm just (too) stupidly patient :D and I should have gone for the refund (harder with HIDevolution...).

    The Alienwarea Area-51m once well prepared, with the good bios version is a rocking beast for sure but I can understand you get frustrated after waiting, I've gone through this also :/

    Don't freak out. All previous BIOS versions are still there. As for the vBIOS, they just removed versions with the old installers and left the 200w VBIOS (1.0.0.3) https://www.dell.com/support/home/e...wt64a&productcode=alienware-17-area51m-laptop
    And the 180w VBIOS (1.0.0.5) https://www.dell.com/support/home/e...wt64a&productcode=alienware-17-area51m-laptop

    Everything can be found on Dell's drivers website

    Hello
    I have justed ordered my Alienware Area51m...which is at the moment between London and China. DELL Tracking system not very precise. Anyway given the outrageous amount Dell charges for warranty extensions from 1 year (I mean these can't be reflective of the actual statistical measurement of unit failure over the period), I am looking at third party warranty extensions. Found a company in UK called MendIT, but I have yet to purchase anything. Does anyone have any suggestions as I blew all my budget on the actual unit. CHEERS!!!

    You have the standard 1-year warranty, I would advise you to add accidental damage for $59 for the year as well. Then, before your 1-year runs out, you have the option to extend your coverage, so just save up in the meantime. I think you're better with a warranty directly from Dell than a 3rd party.

    EDIT: Speaking from a United States perspective, so might be different depending on location...

    Probably better off with Dell but an additional £600 to extend warranty to 4 years is ludocrus...... no way that is reflective of the actual statistical risk.

    Sorry I noticed you quoted $....I am in the UK.

    Is that quote for Premium Support Plus? Because that includes accidental damage plus a whole bunch of other (IMO not very useful) stuff related to Dell Support Assist. 4 years of Premium Support Plus for $600 isn't that bad. That being said, I wouldn't purchase warranty coverage for more than 2-years because I tend to upgrade before then anyway. Certainly Dell makes a profit on warranties, however, you have to factor in the cost to replace something such as a DGFF GPU, which could be quite expensive.

    I don't know specifically Dell time to failure product but as anything in electronics the higher risk of failure is at the very early life of the product and at the end (3-4 years), what it means is if your product survive the 1st year it has low risk of failure until the end of its life cycle, so 1y is actually not a bad idea considering the tremendous cost of the 4-5 year Dell warranty .

    hi guys, I got my new Area m51 since 06/12/2019, there are 3 times I got black screen with no back light, keyboard is not responding as well (caps/numlock light freezes). The first time I left the machine running overnight when I slept then when I woke up, it got blacked. The second time I don't remember but the third time it just happened few minutes ago, I close the lid, brought from the table to another table to replug the power supply, then I got blacked with no respond. There is no way but hard reset the power button (last 2 times) but the 3rd time I just type on/off power button, close/open the lid, type randomly on the keyboard and it sudden turned off. I have no idea what is wrong with the product.

    I ran everything stock. System bios 1.5.4, vbios 180w 1.0.0.5, updated everything latest from Dell website. I ran hardware full test (4 hours) from the startup and there was no issue.

    I haven't opened to gelid/re-paste anything yet. I still have like 15 days to return for refund.

    Have anyone got these issues and how to fix it ?

    Thanks in advance.

    P/s: I am sorry for my bad English. I also got errors twice from the AlienwareMobileConnectClient.exe. It said the memory could not be read.???

    And the last one is my Counterstrike GO keeps crashing launch, I tried many ways to fix and still no hope...

    Frickity frack these drivers... sigh. So, Win10 just updated my Realtek pieces yesterday... now I'm noticing that my sound levels reset to 67% every time I reboot my pc. WTH?! It otherwise still functions, so that's good... (including the audio sections of AWCC and the Realtek control panel). Freaking hate Realtek drivers... they've given me such crap with this PC for some reason.

    Anyone else having this now / notice it?

    EDIT: oh, and my G900 mouse decided to stop talking to it's USB reciever today. Awesome. Still working great in plugged-in mode, but still... ><

    Did you tried a MemTest for the memory ?

    I'd say it doesn't sound good, black screen was a failure we already talked here but it's a case a litlle bit different as far as I remember because you can "recover" from it....

    Even if I really love my machine now that it seems to be stable, I woudn't recommend keeping it if you can still ask for a refund (and only in that case), it wouldn't be nice of anyone it to recommend keeping it or asking for a swap if you can still ask for a refund...

    It seems they still didn't fix everything, they're still not mastering the production of this laptop :/

    Ask for a refund, wait at least 3 weeks / 1 month and re-order if you're still interested by the Area-51m...

    Sorry to anyone, I'm just being honest here, I love my 51m but some users here gone through very bad after-sales experience and I can't recommend it :/

    Just adding some game&bench results :

    Testing Parameters :

    * Area-51m with Intel Core i9-9900K, RTX2080, 32GB DDR4 @ 2400. Swap received 2 weeks ago.
    * CPU not Delidded
    * -110mv undervolt on CPU with Throttlestop
    * 931mv GPU voltage @ 1950 MHZ with MSI AfterBurner
    * CPU Multipliers are set on default
    * Repad with @S.K tutorial, Thermal Grizzly Minus Pad 8 & Alphacool Pads
    * Repaste with Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut on CPU
    * Repaste with Gelid GC Extreme on GPU
    * All Tests executed with 100% Fan Profile
    * 3d Mark Time Spy test is executed by default on laptop's screen @ original resolution
    * Overwatch is executed with Highest Settings @ 3440x1440 on my 35" screen
    * PUBG is executed with Ultra Settings @ 3440x1440 on my 35" screen
    * 3d Mark is launched several times and I get the latest score
    * Games are launched for about an hour of gaming each
    * Temperatures are monitored with ThrottleStop, GPU-Z and HwInfo

    Benchmarks & Games results :

    * Prime95 Small FFTs : 100°c reached even on full speed fan profile (seems usual on i9 9900K not delidded)
    * 3d Mark TimeSpy :
    - Peak CPU temp : 82°c on CPU test
    - Peak GPU temp : 74°c on GPU test
    - Score : 10512
    * Overwatch :
    - 120 to 144 (cap set in game) FPS
    - 84°c at maximum on GPU
    - 70 to 74°c on CPU
    * PUBG :
    - 78 to 90 fps, 80 average
    - 84 to 85°c at maximum on GPU
    - 66 to 75°c at maximum on CPU

    GPU-Z analysis :

    - Frequency quite never drops, goes from 1950MHZ and sometimes 1920MHZ, never below 1900MHZ as far as I remember
    - I can sometimes see some PWR on PerfCap Reason, some spikes that represent 5% to 10% at maximum but very reasonable and when it's happening I can't notice any FPS drop

    I'll update those datas as I haven't much time to play games :)

    The GPU temp seems a little bit high to me.
    pubg at 931mv in my case push the GPU to 79 c at maxmium on full speed profile.

    According to your previos posts, I'd suggest you to recheck your thermal pads applying which may cause a gap between die and the heatsink.

    As for the thermal paste, just use 5 dots method. NO NEED SCREEDING.

    I used @S.K tutorial for the pads, I could replace the 2mm with 1.5mm on GPU ram and 1mm instead of 1.5mm on the two mosfets near ram but I need to order some pads.

    Can it be an difference of ambiant temperature ? We're reaching peak of temps here in France 37°c to 40°c today. I got air conditioning but it one for my whole apartment and it's not in the room I'm located with the laptop

    Version 1.0.0.1 and 1.0.0.2 are not there anymore. Try and share a link if you can. That's why I uploaded them separately. Also, Bios 1.3.2 is no longer there. Only 1.3.0 and 1.5.0. Verify first.

    Ok that's odd. It was previously removed from everywhere and now it's back on. I can't say for sure what it is until I do an MD5 comparison.

    This isn't abnormal in very high ambient temperature conditions. And 1.5mm on memory chips will probably not make great contact as I've noticed this in the past, but not all heat sinks are created equal so you might have to experiment with pressure paper to see if your setup is going to work or not.

    Maybe 1mm instead of 1.5mm on the two mosfets near ram ?

    That's enough for me, if things goes worse I'll be considering repad&repaste but for the moment I'll be leaving it as it I think.

    What's this pressure paper test you're talking about ?

    Apply your thermal pads
    Put on the heatsink without thermal paste and use a piece of paper between the die and the heatsink
    Screw up and try to pull out that paper.

    The Igpu will never work properly. This is due to a lack of nvidia drivers since high Sierra. Wifi won't work unless you have a mac os compatible external mini wifi dongle.

    I have power management and battery percentages working in Mojave. I think my tb3 works as well. Sound I have through headphone jack but not speakers

    Any way to set a macro for fan speeds?

    Heaven benchmark left running at extreme settings for almost 1.5 hours now. Phobya Nanogrease Extreme working like a champ! No air conditioner. Ambient temps at around 28-29 degrees celcius indoors.

    I just applied thermal grizzly conductonaut to both cpu and gpu. Temps are great and actually I am in a hot environment right now here in Greece. (about 35c)
    What I find interesting is that vram overclocks really high, I don't get artifacts until +1100 (its a Samsung memory)
    My GPU has the new mosfets, so I hope it will last and not explode some day :) Capture.PNG

    @S.K @JAGGERBREAD .

    I'm waiting for my pads to get shipped, meanwhile can you tell if I guessed well about the instructions on @S.K tutorial (because I think that the area that may create a gap is around here) :

    I should cut the grayed surface (colored in green below) and add a 3mm Pad on the 2 mosfets there in the green zone ? :

    [IMG]

    I think I will also reduce 1.5mm to 1mm pad on the 2 chips near (1.5 or 1mm on @S.K tutorial).

    I think I'll be ordering Phobya Nano Grease Extreme, it seems better than Kryonaut from what I've read with @S.K

    I was pretty patient but now that I learned that Frank is leaving and there is still not 2666 support I'm pretty damn mad. I know I made a bet when I bought it knowing the situation but I have read people were promised by Frank. I paid over 3000 for this machine and while it's fantastic, I do a lot of 3d work and it is being choked. I think we need to start a petition. Lately mine has slowed down too, seems to not be as fast as when I got it. End of the day the laptop is stated to have a z390, if the z390 does not support 2666 then it's not a z390 and its false advertising. I am not sure on semantics there but the memory issue is incredibly enraging, and then he just walks off to AMD, oh okay.

    Here's a link to a website to create a petition. Hell, I'll sign it. Theres no reason this machine, out of all of their other machines (m15/m17/every other alienware/dell machine basically) the 51m should be left behind, especially when it's a DTR!! If any of their gaming laptops should have 2666 support, THIS should be the one.

    Edit: Removed first part as it was irrelevant.

    Yes, you have to get rid of that edge of the beauty cover. What I am currently running is 1mm (1.5mm doesn't make a difference if the pad is squishy enough as it gets compressed pretty good because of smaller surface area of those 2 as compared to the remaining thermal surfaces). I have used 3mm chunk on top of those mosfets and 1mm on these 2 tall ones beside them.

    For me, it's better by at least 1 degrees celcius. But do take this with a pinch of salt because Kryonaut has some of the worst Q/C out there and there are huge swing differences between temperatures using the same paste depending upon when and from where you bought it. I find Gelid GC Extreme to be the most consistent performer so far, and this is my first try with Phobya Nanogrease Extreme and from the looks of that paste, it seems really well made. I'd say give them both a try.

    Disable the built-in Intel UHD graphics from device manager. That bugger creates a lot of such issues for no reason. Unless you are using external monitors via thunderbolt or USB, no need to keep that enabled.

    Uninstall the old one first using Revo Uninstaller and then run CCleaner (registry scan) to get rid of all the orphan registry entries before doing the new installation.
