No I never went back to 1.3.2 I am not seeking the fastest benchmark, just want performance I am happy with and 1.5.0 gives me that.

Don't post your feelings but rather, post real world benchmarks and results to show us the difference. It's so easy to say "oh I feel this is snappier" that is utter nonsense.

Guys can we please confirm that:
1) The best pads to use are the Panasonics EYG-T7070A20A-type ( https://industrial.panasonic.com/cdbs/www-data/pdf/AYA0000/AYA0000C53.pdf) - they are reusable and they will last longer between re-pastes
2) The second best thermal pads are the "Gelid GP Extreme Thermal Pads". I am currently using these and they are very squeezable but they do not attain their original shape, so they better be replaced on every re-paste.
3) Outside of LM, the best thermal grease is Phobya NanoGrease Extreme and it will not dry out or disappoint.
4) Other thermal greases are "Cooler Master MasterGel Maker Thermal Paste 'Ultra High Performance, Nano Diamond Particles", IC Diamond, MX-4 in that order.
If we agree, I am intending to buy the Panasonic pads and the Phobya thermal grease.mason2smart likes this. -

I can confirm point 3, Nanogrease is excellent. Not using any thermal pads here so I won't comment on something I have no experience with.DreDre, Papusan, mason2smart and 2 others like this. -

Anyone notice the laptop really heats up at the warning screen for using only 1 pwr brick?
I'm only getting 2 channels over hdmi to my TV (then sent to receiver) using Nvidia HD audio. Anyone have a solution to this?Last edited by a moderator: Jun 28, 2019 -
Seen this brother? It seems Dell have changed on the text regarding Worlds Fastest. I wonder why they removed 2666MHz from the Important Details. Cold feets?
Btw. Got any proper answers back from Ernie at Alienware?
From the Press Release... https://www.dell.com/learn/aw/en/aw...xcellence-with-redesigned-pc-gaming-portfolio
----------------------------------------
Btw. The New refreshed XPS will as usual come with 2666MHz ram support. Right from the factory. You'll get even an SD card reader.

Either way, was advertised as supporting 2666. I bought the laptop under the impression it supports 2666 and I spent extra $$$ on 2666 ram. I see a possible false advertising suit on the horizonLast edited: Jun 28, 2019 -
Maybe they will upgrade their Dell app with ram OC support when R2 is ready for take off. But where have you seen they adverticed supporting 2666MHz sticks?
If you have read the Alienware Area-51m Specifications Documents. You would see from the beginning what hardware specs they have added support for. The documents will as always be released once the model is up for sales (same time). But... Never a good idea being the Guinea Pig and not know what you really buy.
Edit. Specs can easly be edited with a pen stroke whenever time. See... I expect you remember the 8 pipes (mess) heatsink change. None really knewed what they would get.Last edited: Jun 28, 2019 -
This thing is completely cheating customers
According to my latest information from RenBao kunshan
Dell updated their newest bios 1.6.2 applied in stock mobo changing the chip EC logic and lower the actual power consumption by adjusting a fake sensor reading.
Simply saying you would expect a decent performance loss with this newest bios, not about throttling in 1.5.4, but average performance loss.
Can anyone update the 1.6.2 to verify this info?Darkhan, Papusan and mason2smart like this. -

Why not just ask Michael himself?

Just take a look at the press release. I call that advertising. They claim it's the fastest laptop then state the fastest means its supports 2666. Seems pretty clear to me.Last edited by a moderator: Jun 29, 2019nkc, Rei Fukai, Vasudev and 1 other person like this. -
They claim also that the Area-51m was the most upgradeable gaming laptop in the world as well. But you can't really upgrade whatever screen you want (Azor's own statement).
Say they have equipped it with 64GB of DDR4 2666MHz memory doesn't mean the ram running that speed when they did the internal testing.Ashtrix, Darkhan, Rei Fukai and 1 other person like this. -

In either case its misleading customers about the product and its capabilities. This is most likely still illegal. -
illegal or not, nobody stands out. Bear it

I think it's funny the screen thing is still being given excuses. While I can believe there may have been limited uhd options when it first launched, I feel there is no excuse anymore. The Aero 17 is gonna have a uhd screen and few others from what I saw with those nvidia studio laptops. So they're just dragging their feet on that front. Considering the m15 R2 is gonna have a 4k panel before it is kinda sad.
Well Frank Azor I'd say I'll miss ya. . .but my parents raised me to not lie so. . .get out of heeeeere!

Good morning guys, my friend got A51m i7 9700k, with RTX 2070. But in the back of this GPU doesn't have the black heatsink like the 2080's version (image below). I tried to find the dell part number but I don't find any clue. So did anyone know the part number of this part? And is it possible to compatible with 2070? Thanks
(sorry for big picture).

SacraficeMyGoat Notebook Evangelist
You won't find it anywhere. Dell doesn't sell it, as its sold with the 2080 unfortunately.
I've had two sent to me for my 2070s through a guy I've been in contact with at Alienware though. I was advised that they may not ship, but to my surprise, they did.
I was a guinea pig for this, but I'm in the process of seeing if they can start selling them through their parts department.
I'll update you if/when they are available to buy!Darkhan, phusy, mason2smart and 2 others like this. -
He might be using Thinkpad W series or recent P series OR the famous Macbook Pro 13" 2012 with CD Drive replaced with dual SSDs which runs better than XPS 15 at 5GHz-6GHz(future versions).

It's still bait and switch. Which is illegal. I bought s system under false pretences it supported the 2666 ram installed in it.
I'm on the latest bios thanks to autoupdate
. No noticeable speed decrease but its definitely not any faster.

You can report Dell webpage as "Having inconsistencies with facts of system spec sheet" Usually they will fix in 2 working days.Papusan, Darkhan and mason2smart like this.
