thats why i posted my definition of stable right after quoting him-> stable score, ok, fine, we can say it this way...a nd 2050 is pretty good. I do not say anything against that. ~5ghz allcore is impressive and way more i was hoping for.
but how can i say my CPU is stable at 5.3ghz if the CPU cant maintain a steady 5.3ghz clock due to heat/ Pl throtltling? That doesnt make sense to me.
You simply can not know that the CPU will not calculate any errors @5.3ghz if the clock can not last long term
I do not want to attack him, if you understood it this way iam sorry.
but other users might think that something is wrong with their notebooks if 5.3ghz is not kept... if we not clarify what is meant with ,,stable,,
If ,,stable,, means for you: the CPU maintain ~5ghz and boost sometimes to 5.3ghz until hitting 100 degree... ok... but for me, that doesnt make sense
-
I think both of you are right, somehow.....
and all comes down to painting the 100% picture if you make a post.
=> what was the stable clock of the CPU for CB-Run 1 with what score what max temp
=> what was the stable clock of the CPU for the stable CB-Run (your case run 20) with what score what max temp
I guess thats sometimes the problem of forums, not writing 100% of all needed info, so everybody knows in which context to read the provided info. -
There are points to both sides, but here is the industry standard from what I know to be true having been in this game a long time...
Stable, can simply mean as @Err0xx is describing as in the CPU set at 53x can complete a given test, even though it dips to 50x etc... due to varies reasons. (Thermals, Settings etc..)
Stable Over Clock is an entirely different thing like what @captn.ko is trying to say.... in that a true Overclock in any enthusiasts dictionary is having 53x on ALL CORES without ANY dips...
I think it would save some confusion if we use the words "Overall Stable," and "Stable Overclock." --
So I can see both sides and they both have their valid points, but depending on the context of what we define as stable, all people really need to know is this...
A TRUE Overclock is one where ALL cores are set to a given frequency and can maintain FLAT (without dipping) during a bench / test etc... - This is the definition of a true Overclock.
A system being simply stable is just that regardless of frequency, unless it's specifically mentioned about the CPU clocks....
. -
if someone posts a score / OC / whatever... just show hwfino with relevant info... so everyone can see the context...
raz8020, DannyB513, firstcw and 1 other person like this. -
^^^ Yup I agree. Double click over the Cores one at a time and pull up the graphs on hwinfo64 .... run the tests and this will simply show it all, whether it is a true overclock or just a stable run with dips...
Either way, just as a reminder, we are already in the green for knowing that the system is more than adequate, stock out of the box .... now let's wait for some repasted and tuned ones.
DannyB513 likes this. -
You cannot claim 5.3GHz if under the test the frequency was 5.0GHz for most of the time. If the frequency fluctuates, like everything else, you mention an average.

I have never doubted that
Iam very impressed. 5ghz allcore during gaming is way more than expected from an Dell device...I was highly worried when thay announced it.
thats my point the last pages... -
Oh I was just making a general point.
I too was curious if the Area 51M could pull it off and as we've seen it can which is great...
50x is indeed plenty enough ... looking forward to seeing more great news.... I wish I had mine already... soon enough. -
yeah...i wait for the shipping mail too ^^ bought an 5.2 ghz (1.20v) pretestetd deliddet 9900k yesterday

Ok this thread keeps getting derailed about a lot of nonsense conversations...but what this guy managed to do needs to be bumped to the top. Bro, how did you get a 24.63% discount?! Proof or it didn't happen. Also, what is the rep's contact #? lolVoodooChild and Kormi like this. -
Well i called them today. They understand and gave me a 10% discount, yes maybe i could have gone higher, but for me its enough. It shows they do care and thats the most important thing.
Just ordered my second unit, still waiting on the refund but heck it should come this week or the next.

Can we repaste with LM without delid i7 9700k?
It will be awesome if Somoene, like @iunlock for old gen alienware, make a tuto

Hey guys, I am waiting for a maxed out A17 R5 for work for video editing. However the feedback so far makes me consider going for the M51 instead. Quick q: If I am keeping fairly stock speeds and just using it for Premiere Pro then the standard single 330W PSU should be enough right?

Sorry to derail. I want to use some of my Dell Advantage points to buy an extra set of power adapters (as I'm thinking the Eurocomm 780w power supply won't be made to work with this). Are these the correct parts?

There is a good chance I'm missing something but looks like the Dell UK no longer lists the 9900k as an option now.
EDIT: I was missing something, knew it.
Thanks @captn.ko

Thank you. Let me know the temp diffrence when you done it

Your post about liquid nitrogen comment was sarcasm. I don't know what to say.
What clock speed is this meant to be? 5.2GHz?
I haven't see much results or activity in your bot profile https://hwbot.org/user/err0xx/
Regarding ram speed and how it change results...
Btw new video.

I’m thinking you were able to get such a high discount % because they have more wiggle room on all the warranty stuff you added. I was able to get around 13% off (no coupons either), but just had the standard 1 year warranty.
I declined their offer though and just ordered it with no coupons through ebates when they had 15% cash back. -

My order came out to $4575.04 including tax. I got it out the door for $4000.00 including tax. Saved ~13%.
Dell won't ship a 17" laptop to an APO address. Otherwise I would have paid no tax. -

Sorry for the double post, but attached is from Dell UK 20 mins ago. You can see in the first image all of the available options. I have chosen the most expensive option on the right. The 2nd image shows the CPU options available.

Hi Papusan,
I got my machine and my results on cinebench is exactly as yours, around 1930cp maximum and CPU temperature near 100, and staying 100 for a few times... never got more than 1900s.. overall I left my machine rendering a 3ds scene with Maya and Vray one scene was rendering on GPU and another was rendering on CPU, so both CPU and GPU together and temperature on CPU always running around 93..94.. around... interestingly that if I use balance thermal setup can hold the temperature around these levels if I change the thermal to full speed the temperature grown to 100c.. dont know why, but will do more tests and leaving running overnight... -

For people that ordered with m.2 from Dell... Does the metal heatsink have a thermal pad between the SSD and heatsink?

My delivery is scheduled for tomorrow, between 07.00-17.00. Yeah, because I don't have a job I have to be at... :-/

Just wanted to update you guys regarding this:
I have contacted dell alienware tech support and shared the images of my ips panel and the images of that gap. They have agreed to to replace the full panel including bezel.

Probably helped a little bit without warranties for reference with 8.125 tax rate it was $3780.94 which is still about 23 off or so. I opted for the warranty because of past experience. I can cancel warranty I guess and receive funds back but felt warranty was worth it. Also I am received 6% cash back from dell for using financing. -
You could, however if you haven't used LM before and are not familiar with it, I'd go with traditional paste first. As for a disassembly guide I might do one, but I have a lot of projects on my hands right now and I'm waiting for my unit.Jaxigar, Kormi, severous and 1 other person like this.

Nice,
I already followed your great guide to repaste my 15r3 with LM and mod the pcu.
It was nice to know whitch size pad is used. -
So this topic was brought up slightly but unfinished.
Eurocom sells a 780w variation of the adapter that will plug into our Alienware 51m's the amount of power available is massive.
Will our computers recognise the adapter
Would we be able to use more power?
If we are locked at a max 510w with (180w + 330w) is this something locked in the bios?
Reasonable to want to carry around 1 charger for all applications vs 2.
Also by chance we get a 2080ti card we might need the extra power. -
1 - Nope
2 - Nope
3 - Yes
4 - Yes but Dell/AW don't care much about that. They're investing in a whole new chassis, that has not payed off yet, and they probably want to gauge the interest off the market in the 51m.
With an 51m-R2 probably they would create an dual adapter version, because @that time their earnings call will dictate if their where a good amount of sales and if there ever will be an second 51M, let alone a thick 17 inch for when this model get's axed.

The AW 51m will not draw more than 400W under the best of conditions.
You'll be fine lugging around a single 330w adapter for most use cases, and it will power throttle some, but still out perform most gaming laptops.
I seriously doubt any RTX 2080ti will be in this system. If that happened, 510W would still be enough.Rei Fukai likes this. -

I think my laptop finally shipped (Canada)? I'm not really sure cuz a support representative emailed me with my tracking number, saying it just shipped. But then I get a second email saying that they would like to recall the previous email. What does that even mean?? How do you even recall an email lol; did they expect it to be retracted from my inbox? Stop toying with my emotions!

When did you order? What was listed as your original ship date? -
I ordered on February 4th with a ship date of February 26th. It was cancelled on the 14th by Dell, and then reordered with a new ship date of March 19th. I gave them a couple of calls but I don't think it had any effect. I did a little bit of complaining on social media, and that caught their attention. They then assigned me a representative to look over the case. And the first time, the representative was from North America.XxAcidSnowxX likes this.

My results are almost identical as Yours.
I also wondering why CPU temps is so high -
They called me today again and said they need couple more days to get tracking number. Honestly I don't trust them anymore, they keep lying to customers. I think I gonna cancel this order and build mITX instead plust get some small laptop and it would be much better than listen to these guys, 35 days so far I waiting by the way, that's it.

I took the 8 GB out in case anyone is interested in taking these off my hands and making your 51m whatever it is, + 8 GB!

Don't worry, I did same misstake when I compared the 51m on diffrent Dell sites in each country. In sweden I did not find the 9900K until I found the next page box hahaFire Tiger likes this.
