Yes only LGA. BGA laptops can get away with the stock BIOS.

That’s a shame. Obsidian configured their php650 to at least undervolt in their BIOS. That’s all I really want

This thread is really OT now! Dare I mention that I'm quite liking my old school 1070MQ m15? Been using it for sensible stuff in coffee shops and it seems to behave quite well - no crazy fan speeds in public yet...

Awesome, thank you so much Sir Donald. :) Honestly speaking, I would rather order from your company, than any of the local retailers here. And you guys are also actually legitimate.. unlike many stores in my country. And I gladly will, thank you once more. :)

Let me know if you get that 2060. I am looking for a 90W variant to flash VBIOS. Would love a GPU-Z screenshot.

Two days ago, I got my m15 with the rtx2060, I am really impressed, it feels very solid and it is really fast. At the weekend I will test the notebook.

If anyone has a question, I will look for an answer :)

I got the I7-8750h rtx2060 and the 60Hz panel, ssd an ram i will upgrade for my own later.

I paid 1664 with student discount.

Got the confirmation of my order two days ago,
    I7-8750H; 2x8 Gb DDR 4; 144hz IPS panel; RTX-2080 max-q. i'll upgrade the SSDs my self.
It is due to arrive between 18/04 - 24/04.

I'll first try kryonaut on it and if not satisfied with temps, i'll LM it.

Looking forward to test it out

Kryonaut is the worst Thermal paste I ever used. Starts out with great temps then within a day or two it quickly starts to deteriorate in performance to the point where you can't even use your laptop.

I suggest you go with IC Diamond or GELID Extreme Thermal Compound for non-metal or Thermal Grizzly Conductonaut for liquid metal.

Take a look at these results as well:

Interesting, although what is the best Paste when it comes to longevity.. which one would last the longest without requiring a repaste?

I have heard on another thread that the longest he has had LM Conductonaut is 1 and a half years. I am curious to how long GELID Extreme would last. And as for thermal pads, what is their average lifespan as well..

Liquid Metal has always lasted me for the life of the laptop, never needed to repaste and the temps were the same as when I applied it from day one.

I don't know about the longevity of the pads. I had them on my previous MSI GT75 Titan and never had to worry about them.

also note that HIDevolution use their proprietary method of applying liquid metal to avoid spillage. Meaning, if you move the laptop, the liquid metal won't seep through and damage the motherboard. Cooler temps + Longevity = Win-win situation

Even better :) What is their proprietary method? And yes, I would really want it to be completely safe for mobility, considering I would be moving around a lot with this laptop. I did go with a full SSD configuration and completely ditched the hard drive just because of possible vibration damage xD

I heard from some Youtubers they would not only add in Capton Tape, but also apply Foam Barriers to ensure there would be no spillage of the LM. :3

I just find this all very interesting. xD LM spillages would utterly murder a laptop. Foam dam barriers would help prevent that and most people use Capton tape as a standard. So, a combination of both should be excellent :) I tend to make it a habit of always wanting to know more xD I probably got in the watch list of the local DELL retailers here just based on how many DELL stores I have contacted locally already xD

    1) How would I know if it's "Proprietary"?

    2) If it's proprietary, even if I did know, I won't disclose it

But basically when I raised my concern to @Ted@HIDevolution about the dangers of Liquid Metal, he assured me that with their proprietary method it wont spill and even if it did, any mod/upgrade done by them is covered under warranty. That's why it's best to have them do everything in-house. Some people want to act smart by doing these mods themselves and save a few backs but then any damage they do is not warranted.

Understandable :) Hopefully, it does it's job and does it well. This laptop would be going through a heck of a lot with me in my daily use with it. xD And of course it would be stuffed in a backpack on a daily basis plus I also expect it to get knocked around quite a few times during my daily commutes. xD Thank goodness Alienwares are built like tanks... cause I definitely need a tank of a laptop.

And yeah, I do not have the guts to open up and repaste a laptop. xD Same goes for practically all the Authorized retailers here as well. :/ I would just leave all of the modifications to HIDevolution. :) Based from what I've heard so far, I could put my trust on them.

I can't seem to find the Touchpad Driver on the Alienware m15 Drivers page.

Can you check your system in Control Panel > Programs & Features what Touchpad driver/version is installed and what is it called?

I'm using Conductonaut on my 17 R4, been there since 3 months and no changes that i can tell so far. I've used Kapton tape and foam dam method. Another good method that i'm aware of to seal the GPU/CPU is to use K5 Pro as a barrier.

Dell didn’t forget, it’s not listed because the unit uses “Windows Precision” drivers, which is nice, that’s why even the 7567, 7577 and many others don’t have touchpad drivers listed. Should work even on a fresh install without any driver updates, if there are any updates it’s through Windows.

I’m sure you could force Synaptic or ELAN standard drivers depending on manufacturer but nothing to gain from that.

No need, they may use small 14MB driver and rest of the features are provided by windows itself which is indeed very good.
EDIT: Found it Intel HID and Serial IO are the things to install, too bad they don't use synaptics driver.

HIDevolution is one of if the best laptop resellers, period. I have enjoyed the machines once bought from them. Paying them to mod and tweak is worth every penny IMO. I like receiving a machine that is running the bestbot can run and warranty to stand behind their work.

    Guys just out of curiosity,

Since the 144hz screen has no G-sync, how do you set your games with it? i mean, v-sync on / off / adaptative etc....
I'm asking because the only 144hz screen i have is the ROG swift on my desktop and that's a g-sync monitor. First time with a high refresh rate screen without g-sync

I guess that depends on how much tearing annoys you. TBH G-sync is supposed to be much more useful at making sub 60Hz.look smoother - I can see some tearing without it, but on 100+ Hz refresh rates and a 15" screen it doesn't bother me.

Studdering will annoy the hell out of you if you play with vsync on. Always play with vsync off OR you can change the refresh rate to 120 hz with CRU (custom resolution utility)

    1) It was always my dream since childhood to get have an Alienware and when I did get one 4 years back, it was the Alienware 18, Dell replaced the machine 4 times, 3 times for screen backlight bleeding issues which they couldn't fix no matter how many times they swapped the screen, it was because of the bezels are creating too much pressure on the screen which is causing the light bleeding then the final time they replaced the machine for a CPU problem so the laptop lost it's shine as I never got to properly use it, I was always waiting for the technician to come next day for a repair or a swap.

Then Alienware stopped making true desktop replacements so I switched to Clevo (Big mistake, ****tiest keyboards ever, subpar screens, and the overall experience was poor ranging from crappy driver support to average build quality)

Then I switched to MSI and I was happy with them for 2 years with an MSI GT73 VR Titan Pro then an MSI GT75 Titan 8RG but I was having the itch to upgrade and I didn't wanna get the new MSI GT75 Titan because it's the same laptop plus the upgraded GPU, didn't wanna spend so much money to get the same laptop again and the screens they had are also average IMHO

I then saw the Alienware Area-51m and got super excited and actually ordered one after a long debate whether I should get that or the m15 because when I was at the mall, I got to see and play with the m15 for the first time and man, the quality is on a whole diff. level, much better than MSI and I liked the idea of having a small little beast which I can easily transport, one AC adapter to worry about and a 7 hour battery life with the 90WHr battery

    2) I waned a Dell laptop more than any other because even if I buy the laptop from the USA, I can easily transfer the warranty here locally to Dell Dubai and not have to worry about shipping the entire laptop to the USA should I ever need to for warranty repairs. So it's that extra peace of mind and ease of repairs

    3) Alienwares are the best looking and sturdiest laptops out there. Period, nothing even comes close!

Finally, read this post where I mention why I switched my order finally from the Area-51m to the m15: http://forum.notebookreview.com/thr...vs-alienware-m15.827808/page-11#post-10884605

my 4 previous laptops had GSYNC (Clevo P870DM, Clevo P870DM3, MSI GT73VR Titan Pro, MSI GT75 Titan 8RG). To be completely honest with you, I think it's just a gimmick and felt nothing different than any previous screen that I had. smoothness was the same. nothing to take home really.

with that said, I always lave VSYNC ON to eliminate screen tearing. Not that your eye would be able to see the difference between 160 FPS and 144 FPS for example.

Hello I just installed Bios 1.5.2 on my m15 (RTX 2060 Version). Now the CPU-Fan seems to run at arround 50% the whole time at lowest state. Is this just happen to me?

Guys, I noticed on the Dell Drivers page for my Alienware m15, if I search by my service tag, it doesn't display the Alienware Command Center nor the Alienware OC Controls. If I untick the box which says search by service tag, it then displays them.

Just wondering why would those not be applicable to my laptop particularly the Alienware Command Center?

No it applies, they just fd up. Sometimes best to ignore the service tag option. Without the service tag selection it shows all drivers for all skus, of the model. Even for my 7577 at times latest bios wasn’t shown with service tag selection.

Thought so but just wanted to make sure. At first I assumed because my laptop has an 8750H so it doesn't need/support the Alienware OC controls but then when I also saw that the Alienware Command Center is missing, I figured something is wrong.

Hey there @Ultra Male ... yup it's a bug as @Aivxtla mentioned. Are you running the latest AW CC? Is it buggy for you or is everything working okay? If you're using Throttle Stop at all, the AW CC can be thorn as they don't reside well together.
