So i bought a new 15 R3 from dell with the 7700hq
Here are the specs
15 R3 g sync
7700hq
Gtx 1060
1tb hdd
8gb ram
68 watt battery
But i saw on ebay some of the remanufactured units with better specs and less money
15 R3
120hz monitor (I believe no g sync)
6700hq
Gtx 1060
99watt battery
1535 wifi
128gb ssd plus 1tb hdd
Now i do have an upgraded 250 nvme evo and 32gb ram i bought seperately, but im wo dering if i should return my unit and get the remanufactured unit with better specs and same warranty with the slighly older skylake? Since the older skylake came with no g sync and has a bigger battery im assuming extremely better battery life than what im getting right now?

Keep in mind most Skylake units had the infamous uneven CPU core temps with over 20°C in differentials. I heard it was fixed in the Kaby Lake refresh.

Yeah I figured, I think someone mentioned it was the heatpipe design, i guess with the warranty you can demand a new hardware piece and repaste with the in home service
-
If it's the case, then yes. It's a great deal!

The heatsink design hasn't changed at all between KabyLake and SkyLake but the QC is better and they've tweaked a few things (e.g. using thinner thermal pads). So if you repasted or got a newer SkyLake laptop you would have the same thing as would be found on a KabyLake machine.

i 7700hq, in the future you could use intel optane, that is only suitable for 7 generation of intel processors

I believe this is only for desktop not laptops

Oh i see makes sense

One major beauty of the 6700 is you can get windows 7 installed without much hassle and bypass the windows 10 cancer.
-
I personally wouldn't be bothered as not enough difference and you don't get the 'new pc feeling' you already have...
-
Yeah, those remanufactured units might have some issues or scratches, plus the 120Hz screen is TN-film.

Windows 7 is ideal for Optimus machines. Windows 10 is still lagging behind with the freezing, microstuttering and latency issues.
Installing Windows 7 in a skylake powered motherboard is easy: If the laptop has a USB 2.0 and a Sata3 SSD, you're good to go and install Win7 with no issues. Some newer laptops only have USB 3.0 and sport an NVME drive, which Windows 7 media installation via flash-drive won't recognize. Some Mobo manufacturers offer Windows 7 patches, allowing it to be fully installed.
If anyone hasn't tried it yet, Windows 7 is heavenly on fast SSDs! -
I have yet to experience any optimus issues on WIndows 10. Used it on 5 different machines total.Vasudev likes this.

The first thing I've noticed in my friend's brand new HP Pavilion 15 (i5-6200U, 6GB DDR3L, Intel HD 520 + Geforce GT940M) during the first hour of usage, were the massive 2 second long freezes and chokes upon pressing the battery icon and the windows button. The issue is almost completely gone upon running dGPUidle.exe, an executable used to keep the Nvidia GPU awake. It doesn't completely get rid of stutters, but will reduce it by a massive margin. It's a windows 10 exclusive issue, and it is said to be fixed by April (Creator's update).

Thanks @SkidrowSKT for pointing out the bug fix is in creators update. Sometimes I face lags on start menu and other small glitches whilst opening apps.SkidrowSKT likes this.

I can't really speak since my AW came with a gsync panel making it a bit of a moot point.
Should i do it? 7700hq for 6700hq
