I am looking for a nicely-fit laptop sleeve for my Alienware 13 laptop.
Currently found this, this and this. Did see this one, but I don't think the interior size can fit my laptop.
I wanted to try finding cheaper ones, but I am not familiar with other places to go look at, or shop at.
Which laptop sleeve would you recommend? If you bought yours, what is your opinion on your sleeves?

This one should fit since it Fits Devices - 13.5" x 1.7" x 9.7". I currently do not have a sleeve but good luck. I believe Best Buy has them as well so it might be best to go there and test with your laptop in hand.
Good Luck -
I'd get a 14" one, whichever you choose. Alienware laptops are usually larger than standard notebooks. The 13" refers to the screen, not necessarily the size of the laptop itself.
-
Interesting. I just couldn't put a word on my Alienware 13's size, since it's thinner (by height) than my old Acer Aspire laptop.
-
I love my rooCase for my m11x. Hopefully will find something similar for my (soon to have) 13.
-
Anyone settle on a good case?

Although I'm sure the alien head logo is worth the $15 premium, I was trying not to have to go there. I was a little bummed about the selection as the local [average at] Best Buy today, everything seemed to be made for a damn crApple.

I think it's the perks of own a brand new, late 2014, thick, heavy 13.3" laptop that does not cater to any standard sizes in the 13" range.

Personally, I've seen it and felt it and I think it's a great quality product. However, some people prefer to use other brands for their backpacks to stay away from burglars. -
Its good to hear that it is a quality product and since it will be inside a backpack most of the time the logo isn't that big a deal. When my DELL reward credit posts I will be picking it up.

That's true, if the sleeve will be inside a backpack then... there's no problem with this one
And it's meant to fit your PC.

I hope to see some third-party sleeves for Alienwares.
Why not? -
Ordered and awaiting. It still blows my mind how a laptop sleeve can be "In production" for 3 days though. lol
-
What did you order? If it's the Dell Alienware 13 laptop sleeve, is it okay if I can see pictures of you putting your AW 13 into the sleeves, in-between transitions from 100% outside to 100% inside, and so forth?
-
Sure is. It wont be here until Friday, but ill take the pictures when it arrives

Got the sleeve yesterday. It is really high quality, an internal flap covers the zipper so that it will not scratch your AW13 once you get it in. Also, it is made out of some seriously thick neoprene, almost like a wet suit. I will get hopefully get the pics uploaded tonight, but i have to work today so I cant guarantee anything.

I have one of these for my M11x and was taking my AW 13 on a business trip I am on and was wishing I had gotten the neoprene jacket as it makes a great additional cushion inside a bag. Ordering one as we speak too :hi2:

What's the last snapshot? It's too blurry for me to see what's being highlighted.

Update:
Caved in and bought the Alienware sleeve for 13".
I do admit, it's quite tight on the laptop, a bit too tight.
In the image, there's a flap inside of the sleeve. According to the Amazon Customer Review "Most Helpful Critical Review", it said the flaps doesn't quite the M14x.
Now I do know that review is talking about putting an M14x inside the sleeve. So, what about an Alienware 13?
Turns out, you need to do this:
- Place the sleeve flat on the table, with the Alienware Head facing upwards, and the flaps down on the bottom side of the sleeve.
- When stowing away the laptop, the laptop's V shaped head (front, bowsprit) needs to be facing towards the inwards of the sleeve.
- Slide the laptop in.
- Use the flaps to cover the laptop's heat vent.
- Zip the sleeves. You may then zip as snugly and close to the laptop as much as possible, since the flaps are now protecting the laptop from the zippers.
That is how the flaps are used. It's a bit surprising that there aren't any instructions on how to use the flaps, given that it's unintuitive when your laptop is facing the wrong way in the sleeve. Trust me, the flaps won't fit if the laptop is slid in in reverse.
To be honest, I have no idea what the flaps are placed there for, and it may be because it's optional if you want something to protect the laptop's back chassis. I see that without the flaps, the zippers can still zip up without having to brush against the chassis, since on the back of the laptop, there are slits in the corner, making the zippers easier to bend around it.
But if the flaps are placed, and the sleeve is zipped, it's clearly warping the smooth tight look of the sleeve, making it look as if something is pointing out. In short, it doesn't really look cuboid, more like a trapezoidal prism. This isn't good for your laptop, when the V shaped front (bowsprit) is pressed against the ground when your laptop is leaning on the wall. With the slanted shape, it's bound to add unwanted additional stress to the chassis. Then again, who's going to lean a laptop against the wall, and you could just place it down flat on a table or a floor? (Maybe not even on the floor...)
Another thing worth mentioning is the side pocket of the sleeve. When you zipped it up, due to the tensions caused by sewing the zippers along the side of the main sleeve, when you put a laptop in the sleeve and something like a portable hard drive in the side pocket, the sleeve will become increasingly warped, like a bulge trying to stretch the sleeve out of its intended shape. That's not good for the sleeve, when you also have to consider that it's much harder to get your laptop out without having the zippers getting jammed by the laptop's back chassis and slit corners.
So, the side pocket is only reserved for papers and documents, no mice, no portable hard drives, and anything with a width of at least 2 centimeters (1/3 of an inch) long from the sleeves.
The reason you don't want to warp/stretch the sleeve is due to the leather bottom. Even though it's good for traction, it doesn't sustain long periods of stretching.
Finally, the "Alienware" letters on the sleeve. That's the materials usually used for clothing for printing text on it. If brushed against something frequently, chances are the letters will start to peel off, albeit slowly. Wear and tear is normal, so I should be reminded that when the letters are peeling, it is when we have all moved on in life.
In short, hoped you find this useful. I will place the texts in the "Tips Thread". -
Is this the Neopreene alienware 13/14 inch sleeve you guys are talking about ? Or is this sleeve specially made for the 13 inch ? Over here I only can get the 14 neoprene sleeve.
Would you recommend the 14inch sleeve for the AW 13, since youre saying the 13 sleeve is to tight ?Last edited: Jan 26, 2015 -
Go for 14 if you don't care about one side of the neoprene sleeve to be pressed down flat easily when your laptop is inside of it.
For the 13, I had to put my laptop in overnight for the neoprene to stretch itself to accommodate the size. After that, "like a glove!" -
So you prefer the 13 sleeve over the 14 one ? even though its a bit tight -
I prefer 13.
For Alienware 14 sleeves, the side area of your neoprene sleeve will be slightly flat. It will feel a bit loose on the narrow sides, loose enough that you can fit 1 finger on both ends of the laptops (that means a total of 2 pinky fingers, depending on how thick your fingers are). When you hold your sleeve in your hands with the laptop inside, and shake it forward and backwards, your laptop will move slightly around.
The Alienware 13 is tight. Very tight at first, you just got to give it a stretch first. Right now, since I bought the sleeve, the sleeve is now perfectly shaped. Not too tight, not too loose, it's just right.
Which laptop sleeve would you recommend for Alienware 13?
