Just wondering what projectors people have used for < $1000.00 and what their experiences are.
Out of my short research the best one I've found is the BenQ PB6100 DLP Projector (http://www.benq.com/projectors/projector_pb6100.html)
With the best price shipped being $776.24
(http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/shopping/index.html?stid=7)
and pretty much everyone who's used it loving it

Well let me know what your experience has been with this or other brands of projectors is.

It seems that most projectors are currently sub 1000. The more expensive models being the higher resolution ones or the super portable ones. DLP projectors (same goes for TVs) give very good picture quality for the buck. The biggest thing to look for is the light output of the projector. The bigger the number (Measured in LUX or Lumens), the brighter the lighting in the room can be without washing out the image. Another thing to be aware of (and the salespeople may forget to mention) the bulbs in projectors do have a limited lifespan, some are better than others, and some are Customer Replacable Units, some require a tech to install bulbs. I've seen Panasonic, Sony, and InFocus projectors in action. They've all performed well. Looking at the particular projector you are considering, it looks like it would be an excellent machine for pretty much any use you may consider, though it doesn't appear to be overly portable. The reviews all appear to be positive, but if you might be able to find this unit at a nearby brick and mortar store, you may want to consider checking it out there, as well as being able to compare it to other models.

Thanks, most of that I've already looked into. Nobody caries it locally, a few places could order it. The lamp cost 399.00 to replace at the moment, with a lifespan of 2500~3000 depending if you are in the regular or saver mode. As for portablity that isn't too much of an issue because it'll mainly be staying put and I can deal with moving it the few times I need to bring it somewhere, as I doubt it'll be more trouble than moving my big 'ol desktop to a lanparty with a mid-tower, keyboard, mouse and 19" CRT.
