I just received a $150 Dell Promotional Gift Card. I recently purchased a Dell Studio XPS 1640 and I would like to complement it with accessories using my gift card.

Could you please advise which accessories I should purchase within my budget ($150)?

Some things I think I need are a 9 cell battery (currently own a 6 cell, but since I am a college student I will be doing a lot of on-the-go usage), a carrying case, a wireless mouse, and a printer.

The items are listed in order of need, unless you think one is more important than the other.

Are there any other can't miss accessories I should look into?

Remember, all items must be of dell.com.

    Thanks NBR Community.

I will recommend a Wireless mouse:
    Bluetooth: The Logitech M555b...it's awesome!
Wireless w/Nano type receiver: Microsoft Mobile Mouse 6000
(this one is sweet, bluetrack technology..and it feels great in your *hand*! :D

Back pack! Anything by Swiss Gear really! I have the Synergy and it rocks awesome! Carrying Case: Belkin makes some really good ones.

Also, have you thought of a compact Portable External Hard Drive? :D

I can't provide the links to the mice right now...but if you put those names in for a search at dell.com, they will come up.

Also, there are some coupon codes on laptop accessories for Dell Small Business...I believe you can use your GC if purchasing thru there also! ;)
(The mice would be applicable on the purchase).

    Hope that helps!

    Cin ;) :)

I just picked up an swissgear ibex 17" for my 1640. I felt the 16" version was too small and left the top corners of the laptop exposed excessivly.

Thanks Cin! I have not thought of a portable hard drive, I don't know if I would need one. What does it help with? Couldn't I just bring my laptop with me? Where do I find these discounts you speak of? :D

I have a small *portable* WD External Hard Drive..
It works well for storing things you don’t want on your lappy, that may take up space..
Such as: Movies, music, pics’ etc :D Oh, yes you can bring your lappy w/you! :)
I just thought of that as a *extra* ;)

Here are the coupons I found for Dell Small Bus.

20% off most Laptop and Desktop Accessories Coupon Code: TR3K2WXQ65?53B
This may stack, may not (but try it)!!
STACKABLE 10% off Electronics & Accessories Coupon Code: 22X6DLMFK6K92G
    Both expire on 7/8/09.

Unless you really need a printer, I would get an external HD over a printer. Most colleges either have free or cheap printers on campus and getting a printer is a hassle for moving and storage. Unless you really need a printer or would like the convenience of having one in your room I would get a HD before a printer.

backpack: definitely one with a lot of padding and space to put your college books

TV Tuner: in case you didn't already order one... useful, got one
