Would be helpful to know your laptop spec. Recommending a screen that is too high a res for the GPU would be pointless.

Yea but if you want to game in native res. Then it's best that you GPU can handle (as in performs decently in games) the native res on whatever monitor you're using.

Ok. For screen. a 20" to 22" wide at 1680x1050 should be ok (~$200). If sound is important to you (like watching movies). Then invest in a good set of 5.1 speaker (~$200) otherwise a good set of 2.1 (~$100) Logitech are usually a good bet. You might need a Expresscard soundcard if you don't have a speaker set that will decode 5.1 sound for you (~$100).

That has to be one of the laziest posts I've ever seen. "Find me things to buy...all of them"...

To the gentleman above, your prices are way off.

A 20-22" GOOD screen will cost between AU$250-350. A good set of 5.1 speakers will cost under $80, Logitech X-something.

Do some reasearch, you have google, the internet and maybe a store or two.

    Failing that, look here staticice.com.au

Well, it depends a lot on local pricing. A 20" to 22" wide can be had in the US for about $200. In fact, the Samsung 2032NW 20" Widescreen LCD Monitor - 5ms, 3000:1, 1680x1050 (WSXGA+), Black is priced at $199. However, I would not consider a $80 5.1 speaker good by any means. The minimium I would go for is the Z or G series of Logitech.

what about altec lansing speakers? their low end speakers are pretty good. all the setups i've bought from them for less than $60 were surprisingly good. but those were only 2.1 setups.
