I have a media player that died two weeks ago
I disassembled it and saw one of the ics is brown so the main board became out of order.
but the mini hard disk(toshiba 30gb 1.8 inch) is healthy.
and I want to use it now as a portable storage device.
it has a 50 pin slot & toshiba site says that , it needs a MCD-D50 Series by DDK Connector to be used
What is it like? I have`nt seen this connector anywhere.
look at it`s output port:

I heard somewhere else that there are some mini hard readers for notebooks that are something like a ram reader
and they have a usb output.if this is possible I will use it for my laptop as portable storage.
please inform me how i can use this mini hard disk as a portable storage device.
thanks

It looks similar to a compact flash card connector. The old IBM Microdrives used it too. But it looks too fat to fit in a card reader. I think there are compact flash card to IDE adapters. how was it connected to the mainboard? didnt have any adapter?

I'm confused, do you want an adapter to use this as your notebook's hard drive? Or do you want to use it as an external hard drive?
For an external hard drive you'd need to get a 1.8" Toshiba IDE adapter, then get a 1.8" IDE external enclosure. -
here is the solution

I actually have two of those 1.8" Harddrive adapters for using it with a 3.5" IDE cable.
I use it for diagnostics and harddrive imaging for failing HDDs.
These drives are found in ultraportable notebooks and iPods.
Here are some 1.8" enclosures (USB 2.0):
