    I'm planning to buy a new monitor for my desktop. Is it better if I just pick LED monitor Samsung 18.5" 1366x768 or go for the Samsung 23"1080p (which I really don't need)? I think if I get the 1080p my fps on my games will get lower because of too much resolution. My desktop VCard is 8800GT. Other great ideas or suggestions? Thank you!

    Go with the 1080p monitor, if you don't, you'll later wish you did. And your 8800 shouldn't have much in the way of problems at 1080p resolution, if it does, you can always scale back the resolution (which you wouldn't really be able to do on the other monitor because its resolution is already painfully low).

    Okay....hmm...about the gaming does it affect much speed or frame rates while playing on lower res than 1080p. I hope there's an 18.5" 1080p. 23" is too much for me hehe >_< I'm using a 22" viewsonic and it coming to it's end. Better ready to know which to buy soon. Thanks.

    The smallest 1080p external monitors are usually 21.5 inches. I'm not sure why you would want a smaller screen than that.

    For games, yes, the performance between 1366x768 and 1920x1080 will be massive. The higher resolution screen has twice the pixels. The problem will be exacerbated by any video card that has less than 1GB of RAM as well. This is all GPU dependent. Of course it isn't hard to make something playable high resolution. Graphics settings can be turned down pretty low on any games. I would much prefer lower graphics settings and higher resolution to higher graphics settings and lower resolution.

    On the desktop there is simply no comparison. The higher resolution is much better. On my 21.5" 1080p monitor, I can easily have two windows side by side at once. With anything less, that is just not practical.

    There are also 900p monitors, but I would still stick with 1080p.

    @Trottel
    Yup no 18" available for 1080p. I'm considering the gpu that my desktop is using it is only 512mb DDR3 256bit and I will not upgrade my GPU. I am using 1080p for my G73-A1 (so cool). Performance wise, do I need much like 1080p for my desktop? Because as stated above, I need to lower my settings in games in order to play in 1080p...sad.

    Thanks!

    You do need 1080p for your desktop. After getting a nice 1080p desktop monitor, I can never go back. Also I am running an 8800GT with 512MB of RAM in my desktop. It is fine for most things. Can play most games decently enough. You do not have to drop to bare minimum settings for anything. It doesn't hold a candle to the HD4890 I used to have, but it still works. Also look into overclocking it. That could give you a nice free performance boost.
