Hello everyone!
So I'm going to buy new computer this week-end and I have decided to put a 120$ budget on three accessories that are classed below in order of priority with the range of price to choose from and the characteristics that I'm looking for. All the help is appreciated even if it is to tell me that I shouldn't buy a cooling pad for some reason or that I should put a bit more in that or that. Thank you.
1st: Laptop case
As an international student in the US and soon to be in possession of a 17" laptop, I need an airport friendly bag. Something that custom and duty wouldn't confound with a cabin luggage (so for example I don't know their policy about backpack if it's considered as a personal object or not).
Size: 17"
Price: 20-30$
Type: No preference
Color, style: I have no preference, a plain black or grey will do just as fine as a pink sprinkled unicorn-shaped as long as it does the job done (yeah probably not the second one). Of course I would love a stylish leather but too pricy.
Extras: If it could fit two computer as I got my small 11.6" notebook that would be great but I guess it's a niche and I wouldn't be able to find that in my range of price.
2nd: Cooling pad
I've read that the GT70 2OC-065US may have some issues considering heat. I also had some issues with scorching hot laptops (notably some burns on my thighs as I was hooked into a video game) so I'd wish to invest on a cooling pad.
Price: 20-25$
Size: 17"
Fans: 2 fans would be nice but I don't really know if it makes a huge difference.
Preferences: Easily resting on my lap without the computer slipping and smashing the floor in a million shards heart-shattering explosion.
3rd: Headset
So I've never had a gaming headset. Well my sister did bought me the Razer Elektra (2 years ago) but apparently the microphone only works for phone or something like that, I've never managed to make it work for PC and anyway it starts to show some sign of weakness (one speaker doesn't work).
Price: 50-80$ pretty much the money left and maybe a bit more if especially good.
Size: 17... huh wait no that doesn't work here.
Sound: Surround just for the realism and will be especially good when the Occulus Rift is released I guess. Noise cancelling would be cool but isn't particularly needed.
Microphone: If it's detachable or retractable it would be good as I also use my headset to listen to music during commute. If not, well, too bad, I'll look like a fool I don't care. If it doesn't record unwanted noise (like the sound coming out from the speakers) that would be great.
Extras: Comfortable to the ears. No cheap foam, even the cushions of my Elektra are a bit uncomfortable after a while.
I know that at this range of price it will be difficult to content me and I'm ready to postpone buying a headset until I'm ready to spend a bit more money.
So that was it. I thank you in advance for all your suggestions which, I have no doubt, will be great. Also, please not that I wish to order on Amazon as it is where I will order my laptop (so it's easier to track transaction).
Gentlemen, Ladies, I hereby express the gratitude of all the French nation for your wonderful help.
Au revoir.
