Its hard to find nice snug 14" notebook cases and sleeves for my Asus A8Js.

Can anyone direct me to some manufacturers who make quality sleeves designed for 14" notebooks. the SF Waterfield ones are nice but a little pricey. Booq doesn't make 14" and Tom bihn styles are too... blocky... any other good companies I haven't looked at?

The Samsonite L25 is a pretty good messenger bag, suitable for most 14 inch notebooks.

Blocky as they may be, if you are looking for protection, the Tom Bihn stuff really is fantastic...... I have one of the Vertical Brain Cell cases, and it is amazing to me how well done the protection is on all sides.......... I would have no problem tossing my laptop down a flight of stairs if it was inside the Brain Cell.

    Yeah, my laptop is a 14" Widesceen (13.18” x 9.64” x 1.37”~1.46”, 5.25 lbs

I may end up getting a Tom Bihn Brain Cell or a SF Waterfield Sleeve. These are the only two I can find with the right sizes. The Waterfield seems to have a more accurate fit. Unless there are other options.

Both tucano and mobile edge make sleeves for 14.1 ws. But there protection is no where as good as tom bihn or sf waterfield. Then again the prices are a lot lower too. Check the link in my sig if you wanna see examples of tucano and mobile edge sleeves.

You will not find a better sleeve than this:

    WaterField Designs

This is exactly what I have for my A8Js and I can't tell you how impressed I am with the quality. By far one of the most well made products I have ever owned. Top of the line materials, great build quality, and excellent protection.

Most sleeves I looked at had "Small, Medium, and Large" and they would say things like "Fits most 14" - 15" notebooks". WaterField has many, many different sizes and you choose the sleeve based on the exact make and model of your notebook. The fit is perfect and you can choose between vertical or horizontal.

Personally I bought the vertical sleeve with no flap. I use it in my backpack so this was ideal. If you will use it in a messenger bag the horizontal might be better. Or you can order it with D-Rings and use the sleeve as a carry bag too. There are a lot of options.

Doesn't Waterfield also do this though........ the actual number of sizes of cases they make isn't that varied (Small, Medium, Large, etc.); they just make it easier to pick out which particular case size matches your own laptop.

Agreed about the quality though, they make excellent cases.

I just ordered the Horizontal WaterField, seemed like the best choice, I too will use it in a backpack, however I prefer the horizontal for some strange reason.

I've got a waterfield sleeve too. It's awesome--and they really do make over 40 sizes (you can look at their sizing chart). That's their main game, making sleeves, though I love the bag i have from them too. Great company.

I think I'm still missing something..... I know they do make specific sizes for some items like laptop sleeves, but most of their actual laptop bags seem to just be Small/Medium/Large/XL.

Not that ther'es anything wrong with that, that's basically how Tom Bihn works too (many different sizes for things like the Brain Cell, and then just their main bags.

You're right about the bags--they have three or four sizes of each. But the sleeves themselves come in over 40 sizes. I know a of places make specific sizes for Macs, but these guys make specific sizes for PCs of all kinds too. You can also choose a bunch of different options within each size. Pretty cool.

You can buy a sleeve and bag combo at a discount. You choose the sleeve that is specific for your notebook, then you just put it in the bag. I would love to have one of their bags but they don't make a backpack (at least not yet). I need the even distribution of weight across both shoulders.

If they make a backpack I'll be all over it. Or, uh, it will be all over me.

It seems to me most of the 14" bags are nylon or cordura. Does anyone know of better looking, more like pro looking 14" bags or sleeves that double as bags?

Pro looking 15" bags are easy to find..

Waterfield's sleeves are ballistic nylon, but the bags to put them in have accents in other materials (including leather).

I bought a Crumpler The Gimp 14" (a sleave/skin), which while technically is for 14" standard, fits a 14" wide, and it sits snugly around it. It's only the front corners that sticks out a bit, but it's not a problem. included pictures.
