Hi guys, thought I'd post this in the general section to get a better response.

So I'm aware that it's maybe possible to get a 144hz monitor running through a mini hdmi port right?

    A couple questions.

    1. What monitor would you recommend? (budget £225)
    2. What cable / adapter do I need?
    3. My specs are i7 - 4720, 16gb ram, GTX970M

Really appreciate the help, hoping to snag a decent monitor to play CS:GO with. Cheers!

No you cannot run 144hz through mini HDMI. With HDMI you are limited to 60hz from what I remember.

You will need to use the mini display port and you will need a Display Port to Mini DP cable. Check amazon, shouldn't set you back more than 10$ or $15 depending on length/brand/quality of cable.

I have the Asus monitor and I like it alot, though its TN and the colors could be better. Though it has zero issues, no bleed and is super fluid and beautiful gaming. On black friday Amazon had this monitor for $209 which was a steal at that price IMO.

Stretch your budget a bit and get a G-Sync if you can.

+1 for the VG248QE. Cheap (relatively speaking) and cheerful. I picked mine up for $380AU. As Talon said the color reproduction could be better it's still more than good enough for gaming IMHO, and the color accuracy can be improved massively by calibrating it yourself.

I've actually contacted the company I'm buying from. They didn't send my order despite me paying £15 for next day delivery. I'm pretty pissed because their website advertises and allows it, order before 3pm for next day. (ordered at 11:30am)

So I emailed them and asked them to change the monitor to the Acer as they have it on sale at £259.99. Which is nice. Let's hope they let me change the order now, seeing as though they've taken my money already.
