i have glanced at a couple notebook cases made from aluminum. i don't intend to drop my notebook or smash a burglar in the face with it either, but the possibility is still there. i've only started looking through the mountain of links in the sticky but I'm still not quite sure what i need. as i'm currently thinking, i might just use a sleeve like case and keep it in my current backpack while traveling to school. so far i've found briefcase types (on overstock.com) but i'm not sure how well they would fit in my backpack.

if all else fails, i'll have to find some type of hard case-protection backpack. i usually commute to school on my motorcycle and it's possible, but extremely difficult to ride with one hand available.

the laptop i'm trying to find a home for is a 17" hp dv9500t. thought that might narrow my options down a little bit.

i imagine i'll have to spend quite a while looking at my options but i would really appreciate advice from someone who already has some knowledge on the subject.
    thanks in advance.
