I have an HP9500t laptop. It gets very warm (duh) when I game. It has 2 HD's in it though to that made it warmer lol. But I need this cooler to work in my lap (that's the whole reason I need it.) All the coolers I see except for the Vantec Lapcool 4 and the Coolermaster Infinity (USA available yet?) have the fans mounted open on the bottom, which is no good for lap use (why they design that crap I don't know, why have a laptop that's stuck to a disk?). Any cooler recommendations?

I use Targus podium Coolpad. No fans but just the elevation + compressed air every 2 weeks on the top left vent keeps it cool

I have the dv9000t and the zalman cooler, it cools the HDs real well. my primary drive has dropped 8-10C. CPU idles at 28-34C. very good cooler but the laptop is wider than it though it still does the job

Thanks for the replies so far. Please forgive the spelling on my first post, I was using an old keyboard.

I would prefer an active solution over a pad, but I will consider just a pad.

The Zalman is not designed for laps but for tables/desks.

Yes but again it isn't for lap use and it blocks the front end. Blocking the front end isn't *terrible* but if I could use the cooler while the laptop sits on my desk streaming media from my server to my tv (has to use front audio ports) it would be a plus.

Also try to undervolt your CPU for a nice drop in CPU temp and also overall system temp. My CPU temps dropped 10C even when o/c'ing my video card my GPU temps dropped 6-7C because of less thermal load from the CPU.

I'm not sure why anyone would want a 2 HD 17" notebook on their lap in the first place. :confused2: If not a cooler, perhaps a lap desk, hard top surface, cushioned underneath where it rests on your legs.

I finally found an Infinite that will ship to the US. It's from mobileplanet.com. But OMG it's 30$ for the cooler, then 16.95$ to ship it to the US via UPS. 46.90 total...I'll have to wait and see for sure if I can pull that kind of cash..

Yes, undervolting would be a great option as well :)
