I'm looking for a backpack or shoulder case for my HP dv9500z 17" wide screen. I am a college student, so I need the bag to carry my laptop, accessories, and some books. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Some people have had good things to say about the Targus TXL617 17 XL Notebook Backpack. I ordered from Amazon and should have it Wednesday. I'll let you know what I think and maybe even write a review.

See this link for some discussion.

    I'd suggest a Heys ePac.
I own a Heys ePac17 for my 17" Sager and I really recommend it.

Have a look at this topic for pictures of my backpack loaded with books.

Note that I was told they only ship in Canada. So if you live in the U.S. you're out of luck for this bag.

The Kensington Contour messenger bag is a good option.

I carry the Mobile Edge Premium Backpack and it has been great. I'm a college student myself and It has a ton of room for my books and folders, even with a 17" laptop in it. You can check out www.mobileedgeblog.com as well for more 3rd party reviews of the Premium Backpack. I hope this helps you out.

I have the Mobile Edge: Premium Backpack aswell. It goes for $100 but i got it at my schools book store for $70 (UCDavis). Awsome back pack, holds my 17 inch Dell Inspiron + all my books with GREAT shoulder support! It's a must have for anyone who owns a 17+ inch notebook..
