Anyone know of a large 17"+ case to carry my laptop plus a bunch of other stuff? I want a big one so it can hold my headphones, laptop cooler, mouse plus other accessories. Also it would be nice if it were not really expensive...although if all there is is an expensive one I would probably get it...Would also be nice if it protected the laptop somewhat as well. Thanks!

is there any kind of briefcase? I don't really like the idea of putting my notebook on its side...

    Newegg.com - Targus Black 17" Groove Backpack Model CVR617

This Targus Black 17" Groove Backpack can hold a fair amount of stuff. I've managed to cram three laptops with power bricks into this thing. Normally, I'll carry one laptop, accessories, and one or two textbooks with some space to spare.

I'd suggest the Alienware Orion backpack or Astro Scout backpack. I can't say much for the Astro but the Alienware is pretty awesome. It fits all my stuff from my 17.3" Asus G73, books gaming mouse, jackets. I'm pretty sure it can fit in 1 17.3" laptop and 3 other 15.6" laptops plus the most important thing is that it makes all the stuff you're carrying pretty light. Though it is relativity expensive. I got mine for $120NZD including shipping.

I use mine primarily for school but i also use it for overseas travel and LAN Parties.

Mezzi Traveler Edition Roller Aluminum Black Laptop Case - YouTube

If you really need a lot of space, this is the one, but only if you need a lot of space? This thing is airline carry on size if you take off the wheels. It's big, sturdy, and you have enough room for the largest gaming notebook, power supply, cooler, SLR camera and maybe even a change of clothes.

The Mezzi website shows that they are out-of-stock but Mezzi also sells on eBay:

Just keep in mind that this is the ultimate in terms of space, not a slim and light briefcase.

You're MUCH better off with a vertical-loading backpack. Is there some sort of particularly flaky design with your notebook that it can't be loaded on its side?

The OP didn't want a backpack.

Personally, I've looked at dozens of backpack designs, and none offer optimal protection for a notebook computer.

Yikes? $150 and $220? Couldn't they knock a decimal place off those prices?

    Case Logic PNC-218

Amazon.com: Case Logic PNC-218 18-Inch Laptop Case (Black): Electronics

Purchased one of these for a HP G72 17.3". It also holds the adapter, a CoolPad, two WD external drives, a set of speakers, several CDs and DVDs, headphones, pens, pencils, screen cleaners... I can even fit my other laptop in it, but, with lower back problems, I'd hate to have to carry it any distance like that.

    It's pretty slim to boot.

I vouch for the Alienware Orion M18x backpack, it's huge. Bought it for my M17xs. It can fit both of them with a NZXT Cryo LX and their PSUs.

For heavy things I recommend a backpack as it equally(more or less) distributes the weight to your shoulders ;)

Yeah, that is right. But backpacks fit bad if you have a suit on :) So if you carry it for a long time your shoulders will thank you for a backpack.

I wont carry my machine for long walks, but usually I wear a suit.

Me too but i care more about my shoulders than i care about anything else ;) I used to be Mr. messenger bag for my laptop and papers but not anymore.
You can always hold the backpack with one hand.

^ Same here , I love Alienware Orion M18x backpack , the con is the alien head got scratched and the nice protection around alien head gets scratches easily , overall a nice bag , I just notice there is a little water bottle holder yesterday.

PS : @OP Messenger bag looks cool but if you carried too much stuff , your bags might not able to handle it and might drop off your lappy.

I got my bag. I like it it is great quality leather. Only a word of warning the dell M6600 is the absolute maximum it does take in. And that with compromise. You have to take out the side protection softpads (which you can). Luckily the bottom protection can stay in, which I find more important (the side is preatty thick leather, it offers some limited protection, but sometimes I put the bag down a bit too hard so bottom protection is a must). I would say 17,0 notebooks go in wit all protection intact.
