I recently purchased a Clevo P370EM and am looking for a quality backpack to carry it around in. Would greatly appreciate feedback from those with oversized laptops.

    Laptop Dimensions:

    16.50" (w) x 11.54" (d) x 1.55"-1.96" (h)

    Requirements:

    - $100 Budget
    - I'm only interested in backpacks.
    - A well padded laptop compartment.
    - I'd prefer a slimmer backpack as I only plan to carry my laptop and a few accessories at most.

One backpack that has caught my eye thus far is the Everki Beacon.

I purchased a Targus backpack. My 17.3" laptop barely fits into it, but it does the job quite well.

I got the Everki Beacon, it is nice, but not really slim. I mean, you can fit a 17" notebook and an xbox 360 in there. My M6700 fits nicely in it, but my G73 barely fits in it.

The Targus backpacks are nice quality for what you pay for them. I have a 15.6" model for my p150em and the quality is great.

Sorry Hackez I dont mean to high jack your thread but Im looking for the same, although for my new m6700, similar dimensions as yours. Iv looked into the everki beacon and titan models, seem like great packs and a great investment but they are not cheap. Iv found the swiss gear scansmart, seems like a great bag with lots of room, I like the extra large pockets on the side to fit a battery and cable and a water bottle also. Mine will be used to carry my laptop, water lunch and college books every day to uni. I received a dell energy backpack free with my order but its not great for carrying all i need. Anyone ever had a swiss gear bag?

Hi Tijo. Would the beacon comfortably fit books and lunch on top of the m6700 and battery? would a liter water bottle fit into the side pockets?

I don't think a 1L bottle would fit in the side pockets unless it has a compact shape, but you can definitely fit a lunch and one or two textbooks with the laptop and power brick. If you can find it on sale, the Everki Titan might be better for you.

I just ordered this Slappa in anticipation of my new notebook. From the looks of it it may be able to carry my HDX in the laptop pocket but I haven't tried to fit it in there since I already have a messenger for that one.

Anyway, the Slappa is well padded and has lots of internal and external pockets (which I like). About the only thing that's missing is a waist belt, since it's a large bag and would benefit from the extra support at the bottom if you fill it to load. Be forewarned though, it's not a slim bag, and this model (one of 4), sticks out like a tortoise shell.

EDIT: Confirmed. For anyone that's interested it will fit the 18" HDX, but the custom Velcro flap must be stretched past seam fold.

I have a backpack designed for a 15.6-inch laptop made by fūl and my 17-inch MBP fits just fine in the laptop section of the bag. I would bring the computer to various stores that sell backpacks to see how well it fits. You may be able to get a bag designed for a smaller system that fits your computer just fine.

How is the padding in the Everki Beacon? Have you had any problems with it?

Not at all, it's not extremely padded, but it is better than the average targus bag, especially on the bottom.

I have the Beacon. It's an incredible back pack. The lapstop space is large and well padded, plus you can lug around your consoles as well. I haven't used the "raincoat" yet, but its a great option to have when on the go.

Just wait on Slick Deals or other deal sites. Laptop backpacks are often posted. I picked up Toshiba Extreme Plus backpack, it's incredible for only $20 + Free Shipping. This comes in various sizes, mine is for 16" notebooks, but I know they have some to fit 17".

Personally I find the Slappa bags too flashy and unique. I prefer the bland, something that blends with the crowd. I don't want to be unique, I don't want attention if I'm carrying $2000 laptop on my back.
