    1. For a good connection, I need to buy a 10/100 mb wireless router right? Do I need a wireless card if there is one in my laptop already?

    2. My battery is apsolutely horrible. I can only stay on it without the charger in for less then 2 hours. I need to get a good battery that lasts for at least 5 hours. Is there a good place to buy one? I have a Dell Inspirion 1705.

For simple a connection any wireless router will work. Wireless 802.11b is ancient now, but it runs fine still for wireless connectivity. Unless you have a T1 line or something, your bandwidth isn't going to take up 11mbps, so if range isn't much of a concern you could just get a cheapo router. You'll get better range and transfer (between computers on the network) speeds if you go with an 802.11g router or even a Pre-n router.

You can get batteries on ebay much cheaper, but the 9 cell is the biggest offered for the E1705, and I doubt you'll be able to get 5 hours with one, so you might want to see if you can pick up two of them.
