Okay, I have a HP Pavilion DV6640US that Motherboard fried. I want to use the hard drive out of it w/ an enclosure. So I went and bought  on eBay for $7 and it's not the right one!!!

My hard drive is a 160gb, and it says Serial AT on the back. The Hard drive enclosure I bought says Serial ATA on it. What gives?

Can anyone help me pick out what I need? I would like to keep it cheap like the other one was, so I don't mind buying off eBay, as long as it's in the USA.

    Thanks!!

Are you sure it's not the right one? Sometimes the HDDs have a proprietary connector that's attached to it that you need to pull off.

HAHA! Stupid me, it was just a caddy!

Hopefully that caddy will fit my new HDX18t that comes in the next 2 days. It has the option to have 2 HD's, and I only ordered one, just need a caddy to add the second.

Let me get this straight, you ordered a caddy off the internet expecting it to have a HDD in it for $7?

    haha, no!

I ordered the enclosure off line for $7, had the HD already from my Pavilion that's motherboard fried.

I didn't realize that I had to take the caddy off the Pavilion HD to make it fit the SATA enclosure!
