    Hi guys,

Anyone could sugest a good brand and model for a 2.5-inch external SATA enclosure, in aluminum material.

I don´t want with HD, only need the enclosure.

    Regards,

I've just bought one of these which has both USB and eSATA connections and supports both PATA and SATA HDDs. The PATA HDD only works through USB and the eSATA only works with SATA HDDs, but that is still some useful flexibility. It's slightly bigger than average (due to the extra connectors) and is not very beautiful (bust shiny black is the current fashion).

Express card cost $$$$$ probably more than your enclosure

    I have a Vantec NexStar 3 2.5" enclosure - it's made out of aluminum and has eSATA/USB.

You can just use USB if you want to save money. Sure, it's not as fast as eSATA but it's a lot cheaper.

If your notebook has a Firewire port, make sure you get a Firewire drive enclosure. I have one of these and really like it: http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Other World Computing/MOTGFW400/

Most notebooks have onboard firewire so check yours. Firewire is sooooo much faster than USB for an external hard drive. It would be silly to go USB if you have onboard firewire.

That enclosure I have is for a 2.5" pata drive, but check that site, there are sata enclosures as well.
