i need a full HD 24 inch monitor, 16:9 or 16:10, with very good black levels. main priority is films, then games, then general use.
i would prefer a 2ms panel. black depth is the biggest priority. backlight bleed should be minimal. VGA is a must. HDMI is preferable, but DVI will also be considered.
budget is <£250.
my current favourite is the Acer H243Hx since it seems to meet all of the above for £200. i looked at the samsung F2380, but after seeing a video demonstrating its terrible "black crush" its now ben written off.
i have read over 50 reviews of monitors, and the acer seems to be the best, but i was wondering if anyone knew of any better ones that i might have overlooked.
thanks for any responses.

Take a look at this.
If only you could afford the Dell U2410, great monitor for the price, but it's over £500... -

both of those are well out of my budget. im a student, so price is pretty important to me.

I suggest you look for an older PVA/MVA model as those have the best blacks while being fairly cheap now. I had an Acer AL2423W which is a 24" MVA and it was a very nice LCD.

Check out the Samsung T240HD, I got one recently and it's great.

I'll second the Samsung T240HD. Gorgeous screen for a great price.

Samsung has some affordable C-PVA panel monitors. Such as this one.

Third on the Samsung. I bought mine on a whim as a temporary replacement for another that had failed and ended up switching to it full time. It's a really nice screen for the money.
