I would so go to stores and print that stuff out. That is hilarious
-
Anyone here remember the holographic storage where they could get 1TB on a disc? This one on the other hand has no merit.

In a few days, we could have said it might have fell though a worm hole from the future created by CERN

Its not fake 100% certified
Theres the same thread in insomnia.gr but in Greek got 1200 replies
but no one managed to explain it (theres no explanation actually)
you dissapointed me. -
in 20 years I'll believe it.

Even if some company makes it today...it ll be more expensive than most players that can play it.
so who will buy it?
maybe good for showcasing technology -
All I have to say is that if a company where experimenting and prototyping technology capable of making a 25TB disc, they would not label the disc like that proclaiming what it is. It would have a code name/letter or no labeling at all. Complete and total fake. If you think it is real, do everyone around you a favor and stop thinking.

dvd driveconfused
the strange thing is that he found it in a pack of dvds.

It's just a lonely guy trying to get some attention. Total fake, but this kind of thing happens all the time.
-
If you think it is real, then I have a 100TB disc sitting in my "Ultrasound" 3D disc drive right now. Strange, ultrasound 3D. Yet it is an optical disc which uses laser (light). Where does the ultrasound come in? -
lol if the disc is scribed with gamma rays then maybe lol. anyone one with lightscrib can print that in 2 min

Considering that the move from DVD to Blueray required a new laser type to be accurate enough to read the disks because the data is so much more dense the move to XX TB would probably require dramatically different accuracy with both the laser and maybe even just minute vibrations in the mechanical drive itself to work. So I call BS.

The biggest I have seen is 500GB wich was a 25 layer Blue ray disk on CNET

I'm waiting for these babies: Protein-coated discs

There is such a research in progress, but no way some developing Harvard/MIT research project ended up inside a retail DVD pack.

It is quiet possible for this disk to exist. You have to remember that BluRay technology is about 10 years old or so. I remember reading about it back in the mid 90's. Just like I read about double layer DVD's back in the 90's. Companies just like to put out their products in stages to milk the profit from technology. The disks that they have could have been for the government or military and just got mixed up with the civillian batch. God Bless
-
I don't think companies are holding back on 25 TB discs to milk the profit, it is more or less there is no need to have that much capacity on an optical disc right now, nor is there probably the technology to do so. That is about equivalent to 1000 Blu-ray movies.
-
Oh yes, they milk the product to get as much profit. When DVD's first came out, we were limited to the single layer 4.7Gb, but they also had the technology to do the dual or double layer to get the 8.5Gb, but instead they waited a few years before they introduced it to the public, basically to get as much profit from the single layer DVD. When they brought out the dual layer DVD's you then needed to buy new discs and hardware to read them. They were at one time planning on doing the next phase of dual layer double sided which would hold about 16-17GB, but at the same time Blu-Ray and HD DVD were already being developed, so they just came out with that. God Bless -
That may be the case, but you are talking 1000x increase between Blu-ray and this fake disc. Even if they could create this disc, there is no point right now. Dual layer and double sided DVDs would be nice for TV DVDs so you could have an entire season on one disc rather than multiple ones.
-
Even I can make a sticker like that in half a minute with LightScribe.
-
If you read my original post my guess here is that the 25TB discs *may* have been for the government or military use and got packaged in the wrong place. The government and military have many uses for 25TB discsGod Bless

Its a developing technology, forget retail there is no way they'd have it. -
