Thanks in advance for any help you can provide or even suggestions for different devices that may work as well.

I am interested in a switcher so I can use my fancy new notebook with some of my fancy USB 2.0 gear and my big bad LCD while at home.

In searching this seams to fit the bill.

The "2x1 DVI KVM Switch" seen here: http://www.gefen.com/kvm/product.jsp?prod_id=3113

Does anyone have any experience with this switcher and if so can you please tell me if it supports a hub plugged into one of the USB 2.0 ports. I have three devices that I want to run, all USB 2.0.

    1. Saitek Eclipse keyboard
    2. Microsoft Sidewinder mouse,
    3. Nostromo speedpad.

Thanks for any and all suggestions!

Do you understand what a KVM Switch is?
    Clearly you do not

A KVM switch is used to network multiple computers to a single workstation.

you do not need a KVM switch to do what you are looking to do.

You need a USB hub, and a video cable
    Something like this is perfect:

    What laptop do you have?
I need to know what video port it has, so I can tell you what video cable you need to get

Thanks K-TRON and jerry66, I should have been more clear in my first post.

I have a desktop system with USB keyboard and mouse. Also attached to it are several USB devices I'd like to have available when using my notebook at home. Namely a Belkin Nostromo N52 Speedpad and a TrackIR.

Rather than have to disconnect each device and my desktop's monitor to plug my notebook in to the monitor and the devices.

I was hoping for a switch that would allow me full access to these devices and my desktop's monitor while using either my desktop or at the flick of a switch, my notebook.

But I have been unable to find a two computer switch that supports more than 2 USB devices. So I was wondering if a USB hub would work in conjunction with a 2x1 DVI KVM Switch or similar.

My laptop, an Alienware M15x has a HDMI Connector, my monitor a DVI connection but since I'm trying to go through a switch it will most likely ba a DVI so I'll need one HDMI to DVI converter.

I know enough to make me a menace to my computer. But not enough to know if this switch will work with a hub attached to it. ;)

Id like one of these but too expensive for what its worth. I have my 37" HD LCD at home and I can hook my laptop to it with HDMI or DVI and it has multipe inputs so thats what I do, the only loss is that I cant share the keyboard with that method, but a usb hub may just allow me to do that.

An advantage of my way tho is I can use PIP or PBP and use the PC & Laptop at the same time.

    ViciousXUSMC,
You would still need a switcher to run two computers with one keyboard. A USB hub alone would not do the trick. You could still run both your HDMI or DVI through the switch or just direct to the TV if you wanted to PIP or PBP with both computers.
