Keep in mind TigerDirect is not very good at rebates. I would head over to FatWallet or SlickDeals. There is always a hard drive deal there.

I'd wait for a good local deal, BestBuy/OfficeDepot/Etc. often have cheap WD, Seagate, etc. 250+ gb HD's for $100 every once in a while. Also check sites like www.fatwallet.com or www.slickdeals.net for more savings!

edit: boo! zazonz beat me to it. Stupid router disconnected on me! lol!

And if you can spend that much for that enclosure, I'd look at Vantec's NexStar line...the shiny ones ;)

Buy.com had a 320GB IOGEAR for 180 after rebate. I think that is a pretty darn good deal.

As for nexstars, I have 2 of them (2.5", and 5.25") and really like them, but I don't really like their 3.5" they have now. They got no cooling and I am not so hot about the idea. But there is a new nexstar GX coming out soon with cool features, such as passive heat sink coolers and automatic variable fan, it acts as a USB hub (3 ports), and it is USB sensing, that is it switches on and off with your computer. I couldn't find it anywhere, I emailed their sales department on tuesday about ETA but they didn't answer :( ... their customer service was amazingly good a few months ago, maybe the sales department isn't just as good.

Me I am waiting for the GX, it has to come out sooner or later! hopefully

It is a program for making an image of your hard drive. It makes it easy to restore your system.

that depends on the delivery method. Most likely it will be UPS or fedex. UPS and Fedx will try to deliver 3 times, each time they don't find you they will leave you a notice saying that they passed by. If by the third time they don't find you, you will have to go pick it up from the closest distribution center.

You can check your tracking info once the item ships to figure out with who its shipping. And after that you can get an estimate of day of arrival.

Let us know how you like the IoGear. I tried to find reviews for them online but never could, but IoGear has some nice products so I am expecting this to be a nice drive.

    Congrats on your buy.

ok, i order from buy.com last Sat, and the product still hasn't been ship yet. so i decided to cancel my order. its ok with me since $200 is a little bit more i intented to spent. anyway i decided to try to build my own external hdd with external enclouser and internal hdd. what is the different between ATA 100 and IDE. how do i know if internal hdd support the enclouser? two hdd i'm looking at is this:
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16822145058
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16822144358
    and enclouser:
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817145133
(is this the enclouser you are talking about qester?)
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817155211

for hdd i want at least 250gb
for enclouser, a good one, a stylish one hopefully.

The Vantec NexStar 3 is the one I suggested, Although I have the Nexstar 2, which works great and all, the 3 is just so much nicer looking :D
