The best general advice I can give for mice is to stick to Microsoft and Logitech for mice. Logitech more so if you are gaming. Stick to corded mouse for gaming also. Get optical over laser too as the technology has had longer to mature. Finally ensure you check the size of the wireless adapter that comes with the mouse to check it isn't too bulky.

If you can get $7 more towards your purchase get on amazon and order a Logitech VX-Nano.... I have one it is the best wireless usb mouse I have used with plenty of great features..... just about every review is highly positive for it...... so get on amazon, order one for $50.... and use the rebate to get free shipping and $15 back in the mail....

The VX Nano is a good mouse, but it's not for gamers.

The way I see it, OP, you can either have a gaming mouse, or a sub-$30 mouse.

What about a wireless gaming mouse with "quiet" buttons?

It isn't a gaming mouse, but the Microsoft Mobile Memory Mouse 8000 is a really good deal right now at Amazon. I got myself one for $25 no tax + free shipping, and am very satisfied with it.

It's dual mode Bluetooth and wireless, and is rechargeable. It is a laser mouse.

That G9 is a good deal, though I am not a fan of that mouse I prefer the G7.

the MX518 is the beset mouse I can think of and its about $40 shipped but it has a cord on it.

Ive been using the VX nano for just about any game without any problems (strategy/fps/etc).... so I would argue that it is decent for "medium" gaming as the original poster said.... so like I said, check out the VX nano....it is a great product

Don't go wireless, no matter what you'll get mouse lag.

The G5 is a good wired mouse.

    Reliable and speedy.

You all are really jumping the gun when it comes to "wireless being out of the question".... look at the original post and see that they do medium gaming, surfing, and looking for a laser wireless.... I dont think hes looking for a high performance gaming mouse....

Also, I have been testing a few different wireless mice and they have been very sufficient when it comes to "mouse lagg" because I do not get any.... wireless mice are much better now and most people overlook them automatically because of problems associated with wireless mice when they first came out....cause they did suck

well if his gonna go spend money then might as well get a good mouse.....i speak from experience i used most wireless mouses on both gaming and homework...to me the wireless mouse became a prob. its either something disrupting the connection or the battery is low and most wireless mouses that have a small dongle are high cost IMO they cost as much as the g5 or most other gaming mouses thats why i went from wireless to wired they give u speed, reliability, and accuracy....IMO :)
