I just noticed this amazing deal. I definitely want one.

Does anyone have more info on the 'tempered glass' version? Is the glass in front of it like an Apple Thunderbolt display?

    What does SE stand for?

I'm thinking of paying extra for the zero defect pixel option. It's says dark pixels are allowed. Do you think it's worth it?

    http://www.overclock.net/f/44/monitors-and-displays

go over to overclock.net and read all the threads(or as much time as you want to spend) about the different monitors that have the 27" LG IPS panel

I've got a question that I can't seem to find the answer to. I am interested in these monitors but I'm not sure if I'd be able to run one at full res on my t520. The gpu (intel HD3000 and Nvidia 4200M) support the resolution, and the laptop has a displayport, but the monitors use either Dual DVI (or possibly that, VGA and HDMI for additional cost). If I did displayport to hmdi, will that output at the full resolution, and is there a displayport to Dual DVI cable that I'm unaware of? Thanks for the help in advance

there is a displayport to Dual DVI cable....

most likely, you'll need an active cable... they are still quite expensive (since most people don't need dual link and buy a cheaper $30 single link active... people who need dual link usually can afford $100 :D)

    Amazon.com: Accell UltraAV B087B-002B DisplayPort/DVI-D Dual-Link Adapter (Black): Electronics

generally, HDMI doesn't support that high a resolution (versions 1.3 above does, but a lot of devices just say max 1920x1200)

from T520 and WQXGA (2650x1600) resolution with Active ... - Lenovo Community

it says that using the active DP->duallink DVI might be picky... might not work with the Intel HD3000, might be fussy with the nvidia 4200M

Ah, thanks so much, I appreciate it. Looks like I'll just hold off for now and hope some models come out with a direct display port in the future.

How about my Macbook Air with mini DP?

I have a standard mini DP to DVI adapter. Will that work or do I need an active one too.

you'll still need an active DUAL LINK adapter... most likely, your adapter is single link (most dual link DVI adapters require a secondary USB cable or power supply for power)

get this (official apple)... or one of the alternatives that still cost $80+
Mini DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI Adapter - Apple Store (U.S.)

(if you look at the reviews, some complain about it being single link... I'd say they didn't use a dual link DVI cable)

monoprice's version should also work...$70 is slightly cheaper

For only $64.40 each when QTY 50+ purchased - Mini DisplayPort | Thunderbolt + USB to Dual-Link DVI Adapter | Mini DisplayPort to HDMI / DVI / VGA Adapters

Ah I was tempted to get two, but after finding it's glossy, eh I'm borderline on it ( I know it's still awesome glossy but I'm all about the matte )
Currently using my old 2407WFP-HC and 2408WFP.

Probably better for me to invest in a new laptop first anyways haha

And several versions come without tempered glass. That would be easier.

Hmm I haven't found any information about the matte, does anyone have any information about getting a matte version for these monitors?

I would probably get one if I knew it'd be one that I could overclock the refresh rate on it. From what I understand, only the B series can be overclocked? And there is no guarantee on receiving a B series? Kinda sucky.

EDIT: It appears you can buy the B series model but it is also the multi model which I don't need. Especially at $530. Still a good price but I would love a base model that could be overclocked to 124hz.

I've heard reports that the Shimian displays can be OCed to 120 Hz with an NVIDIA Fermi-series card. Anyone hear similar?

The crossover Q27 LED-P key letter being P can pivot which is the term you are looking for.

I personally own one and it is quite a steal at just under $400.

true, but most HDMI outputs (from gpu) and HDMI inputs I've seen specifically said 1200p Max...

easiest way is to tell specs of course.. and converting displayport to HDMI 1.3 or 1.4 at >1200p would require additional power from a USB cable, so the power issue would clear things up too

as for the dell monitor rotation, believe each different monitor has different stand, some models have stands rated worst than others... either search properly for a model and find its features, or buy a model with Vesa mount and buy a mount that is vesa compatible for 27 inch monitor .. think people cited monoprice.com as one possible source

The HDMI input for the Dell IPS 27"-30" only supports up to 1080p but you can set up custom profiles to get it to native resolution. Maybe you can do the same for this monitor.

HDMI is really more consumer home media appliances. Its scalability is limited.

Does there happen to be any good 24" IPS panels on the cheap from any (Korean) source? Was hoping for something $100 cheaper at WUXGA (though I would settle for FHD) resolution and better than the 24" eIPS 6-bit+A-FRX panels that Dell uses.
