    Port options:
    4k@60Hz: DisplayPort 1.2, HDMI 2.0
    4k@30Hz: HDMI 1.4

Does 30Hz look noticeably worse than 60Hz? Do any laptops have HDMI 2.0? Are there any good DisplayPort to HDMI 2.0 adapters out there?

    Oh yeah.

    Nope.

    Moot point because above.

DisplayPort is really your only option ATM for 4K @ 60 Hz. I don't know if this is a computer display or TV, but apparently some 4K TV's can do 60 Hz over HDMI 1.4 using chroma subsampling (a form of color compression) on a single (not SLI) Kepler GPU with R340 drivers or later.

Thanks. I think there are some HDMI 2.0 TVs out there. That's why I asked about the adapter.

DP on the notebook to HDMI 2.0 on the TV is fine then.

HDMI is for Television use. For a monitors you want DP. Haven't been keeping up with the arrival of HDMI 2.0 so don't know if its out yet. However, it should operate like current 1.4 and be completely compatible with DP with an adapter. According to reviews there is a noticeable difference in gaming only.
