heyas all....
i have been looking onto headphones/headsets for a laptop.
i have seen several that offer virtual surround and they seem kewls and all, but will the virtual override actual surround (while watching a DVD/BluRay)?
i would prefer a headset (so i can use with Vent while gaming) that has the ability to produce surround sound.
i also am wondering if a soundcard would be required or not...
i hope this makes sense....as i am a bit lost myself in explaining it...![]()
thx all in advance...

Virtual surround, or 5.1/7.1 headphones are a joke IMO. A regular set of headphones with a good sound stage will do better in the surround area, and they will sound better. Go to head-fi.org and look around.

checkout Sennheiser PC350...one of the best gaming headsets with a great soundstage.
but if u want for movies & music also then checkout Sennheiser HD555.
forget Virtual surround...its only a sound effect...soon u grow tired of it -
i was looking at the PC350 before...
how do you think those would fare for movies and music? not that it would not be fun to have two headsets/phones, but i prefer just one...lol
and at least the 350 has the mic.
thx nocturnal and syndrom.
now - would the onboard sound ok, or should i invest in a pci card?
5.1/7.1 etc...virtual vs actual... sound card or onboard...
