I really don't want to pay $150-$300 to buy the ultrabase and slimbay burner.
I only need it to load the XP downgrade discs (from Windows Vista Business) to my X61t. Portability is not an issue.

Would any USB enclosure + regular pc dvd burner worker?
ANyone recommend a combo for my thinkpad x61t tablet?

Thank you, that's good to know. I may just get an enclosure as I have a spare IDE burner laying around.

I thought about using a USB key. There's more than one disc involved for the XP downgrade process. How would I put them on the USB key?

Format the key to be bootable and simply copy the folder structure over of the discs into separate folders on the key?
