Admittedly... I used it nonstop from yesterday morning (wed) until today (thurs night). :D

Okay, let me backtrack a bit.. I left my laptop running the whole night yesterday using only the AC adaptor (took out the battery), with everything set to low (cpu, graphics, lcd turned off after 1 minute).

Then i left it like that (still running w minimal resources) this morning when i went to work.

When i got back this 7pm.. Surprise surprise.. My acer was turned off already and no amount of pushing the power button would on it. It took a while before i got the sense to test it with the battery (which i put back).

My first thought was.. Maybe a power fluctuation happened.. I checked the fuse of the AC cord.. Replaced it with another 1 (from my ibm notebook - same Amp ofcourse) but nada.. It still can't power on the laptop.

Hmmm... What could've happen?? I hate to think its because i used it non-stop and the actual unit itself broke.

Could it be extreme heat due to prolonged use (my rooms airconned)...

    Defect??

    Why oh why?? ;)

Additional note: my ibm ac adaptor gives an output of 16v, whereas the acer AC adaptor gives 19v.

Can i interchange each other for testing's sake? i.e use the ibm cord on my acer and my acer adaptor on my ibm laptop.. Or is that a no-no, a BIG no-no? As one would be underpowered and the other overpowered?

    As in... possible explosion..

I couldn't be due to overuse, it's only 3 days old! I've always run my several year old notebooks for weeks strait in 105F room temp! (servers :D )

Coulda just blown a capacitor in the AC adaptor.. in anycase, return it! get another!

That's what i'm thinking as well.. Coz i usually leave my old laptops ON from Fri night to Monday mornings.

Could it be by chance because i took out the acer battery and relied solely on the ac adaptor? hmm maybe not.

    Defect it is then! :)

But there must be a valid explanation, my inner voice says.

    =p

Could be because of its greater output capacity it is more fragile. Say it aint so!
