I just bought a replacement ac adapter for my hp laptop. On the original brick it says to replace with hp spare 381090-001, and when I ordered from HP Parts Store, I entered that number and it gave me 417220-001 for the replacement of the original, with the same specs except for amperage of 1.7A. Is this still safe to use or will there be any long term effects?

Should be fine.. A higher capacity adapter would never harm the computer, unless teh o/p voltages are different.

Hi.
looks like the first one is slight more efficient, but both outputs are the same, so no problems.

Hello
I have the same question just reversed. Meaning I want to know if instead of a 1.7A input current my new adaptor holds 1.6A is it still ok? Is there any problem that might occur in the future or any precautions I should take?
Thank you in advance! -
As long as output is the same - no matter what the input you should be OK.
Stressing should - I still wouldn't personally use anything but a genuine replacement part... -
65w adapter, same specs except input amperage 1.6 vs. 1.7, okay to use?
