I've been looking all over to find the perfect laptop cooler but whenever I find one I always come across reviews for it where someone says that their laptop hangs over the sides of their cooler. I don't want that.

Can someone please help me find the one I am looking for?

    Dimensions: 16.2” W x 10.9" D x 1.37"~1.7" H

    Thank you! :)

I would recommend the Zalman NC2000, but it is just short in width.

The NZXT CYRO LX is a beast and should fit your notebook quite well. Don't forget that the positioning of the fans with the cooler is very important.

    NZXT Cyro LX

Agreed. Given the vents are primarily at the middle and bottom, NC2000 will probably give you more bang for the buck over the Cryo-LX (and don't get me wrong, I love my Cryo-LX, but the fans are situated closer to the top and the bottom portion is more solid/less venting near the wrists).

I would entirley disagree the top left corner of his laptop is the hottest and where the fan is on the unit. The NZXT Cryo LX would be the best for his.

Tha zalman will not hit that top vent though it will get cool air to it there is no direct air flow to that spot with the zalman. The Cryo will miss the 2lower vents but will still provide cool air flow under the laptop that benifits those area's. Thats only the hard drive and I would be more worried about the gpu and cpu cooling then the hard drives unless their frying.

did you look at the picture right? the heat is at the upper left. So the Zalman cooler is the wrong choice?

I think thats what they missed which is why i disagreed with them, thanks for the rep.

Look at my zalman review (link in sig). You will notice the section at the top where the main vent and fan are is solid no air comes out of there directly. The top oriented NZXT would do alot better only suffering in the area where the hdd is.

The majority of the hardware is in the mid and upper section ot the mid and lower like the one guy tried to say.

ok thanks a lot clutchX2! I'm going to consider purchasing a NZXT Cryo LX.

Anyone else who knows of any other coolers for laptops with my dimensions please tell me. I really want to compare.

i still say get the Zalman. it'll cool the whole system. plus, i tried the cryo lx with my laptop, and it didn't cool the GPU one bit.

Both will push cool air under the laptop benefiting it.

As a zalman owner and previously the owner of two hp models similar to his I say nay to the zalman. He has the choice between ice cold hard drives or ice cold cpu gpu. The NZXT will directly hit everything but the hard drives and will indirectly reach them.

The zalman will indirectly cool the hottest part of his notebook..... Read the cooler guide if your tired of my opinion.

ok thanks clutchX2 you have given me a lot of help with this. I appreciate this a lot.
I'll keep looking at both but it seems like NZXT is the better choice even though it is also the much more expensive choice.

Without the discount at new egg its the same price as the Zalman at 69.99? Zalmans like 8 bucks off at the moment.

oh I thought the Zalman was a lot cheaper. I must have checked the wrong one.
I also noticed that that based on your review the zalman does not match up with my laptop dimensions and I don't want overhang.

The NC2000 is the largest one not sure how big your laptop is but if you check my review you will see how its barley any bigger then my 15.6 inch laptop.

If you check out X2P's NC1000 review or the NC1000 to 2000 comparison the 15.4 inch Vostro is larger then the 1000.

    I have a 17.3 inch HP. it is 16.2” W x 10.9" D

    the Zalman NC-2000 is 12.52" x 15.75"

my laptop is wider than the zalman

Always good to know. The zalman is popular here as well as the NZXT. I typically get opposition to recommending the zalman. I knew it was the best fit for my particular model which wasnt exactly designed with coolers in mind.

Your main fan is direct feed while myne is force drawn. You cand actually force air into myne your best bet with one like mine is to create a pocket of air for the laptop to draw from.

Your laptop would benifit from direct air flow to the vents as much as possible as the air isnt sucked through the other vents. The auxilary vents such as the hard drives air is heated by the device this imbalance causes the heated air to move out of the vent into the lower pressure environment.

nice to hear. i'll continue pimping the Zalman, seeing how the NZXT Cryo LX, Zalman NC2000 and Antec 200 were all too weak to cool my GPU... at least the Zalman cools the rest of the notebook as well. heck, it even cools the CPU better than the Antec 200!

thats really weird cuz the zalman units cannot compare to the cryo LX in cooling power. maybe u had a defective unit or it wasn't bein powered properly.

anyways, the zalman units are still great products and as long as u'r happy with yur purchase.

yes, but the fan alignment in the cryo LX matches the m15 much better than the nc1k/2k. especially the CPU and GPU areas. u know i wouldn't make such a comment without some research and facts.

btw x2p: did u ever get yur hands on the new coolers? i'm still down to help if u need any. just lemme know :)
