So I've been looking for a mouse that will be convenient to use anywhere and one that can hold up in casual gaming as well. I've basically narrowed it down to the Logitech M705 and the Anywhere MX.. I've heard great things about both but just wanted to get some more opinions.

Some of these newer Logitechs have a free spinning wheel that feels quite different. I would try before you buy, I've seen these in stock in my area, both look good.

The Anywhere has increased cost associated with it's ability to work on glass or other surfaces. Depends on whether you would use that feature.

Logitech M705 Marathon Mouse. It's the only wireless mouse I'd ever recommend.

The big problem with wireless mice is short battery life. High-performance gaming grade mice get pitiful battery life of maybe 1-3 days at best. Non-gaming mice tend to get battery life in the 1-3 month range. Again, that is short enough of a battery life to become annoying.

Logitech M705 Marathon Mouse gets battery life of 3+ years. It is simple, sturdy, inexpensive. Works very well for general productivity use, and is "good enough" for casual gaming purposes. If you go with this mouse, I actually recommend you buy two Lithium AA batteries for use in it. Lithium batteries will give this mouse a light center-balanced profile, whereas using the standard alkaline AA batteries will give it a heavier rear-balanced profile.

I've been using the g500 for a few months, but of course it is wired. Great software for mapping different buttons/profiles for different games. A bit large, but good ergonomics and hand placement.

Please. Besides the Performance MX and G700, all of Logitech's wireless mice have battery life of one to three years, so the M705 isn't special in that regard.

Which would be better in terms of casual gaming?

For casual gaming, just about any mouse will do the job (and do it equally well).

The more important factors here would be the physical aspects of the mouse (size, shape, weight), performance (battery life), and cost. The other factors related to performance (DPI and USB polling rate) are pretty much irrelevant for casual gaming purposes, to the point where I'd say it's safe to ignore those.
