    Dell UP3017Q

    30", 4K, 0.1ms, 120Hz, 10bit, ARGB

Doesn't look like a mature product atm, also need VRR and better gamut, but we are close.

MSRP is $4999 which is quite high for a 30". That should drop significantly as more vendors come in.

I would CRY if my new OLED monitor got burn-in (more accurately known as image retention) are they really ready for static icons on a desktop, unless it has an orbit function like plasma tv`s use to reduce burn-in then you can chase the icons around the screen.

I don't understand why people are so eager for OLEDs for computers.

They will have marginal improvements to contrast ratios, size, and weight compared to present-day IPS panels. In ideal conditions (lots of black on-screen), they will have marginal improvements to battery life.

Yes, IPS backlight bleed is annoying. But it's an annoyance... it doesn't prevent you from using your computer.

Good luck browsing on an oled display, white kills the battery, I keep everything as dark as possible on my 10.5" oled tablet.

For me the primary reason is response. This thing is (or technically can be) faster than analog CRT at comparable resolutions. And no more over-drive LCD ghosting rainbows.

Some OLED designs also have better gamut than any commercially available LCD. Unfortunately this one doesn't.

OLED black with no bleeding is a plus, though not critical.

OLED *IS* the future. Just it's taking them a hella long time to perfect it. I remember getting excited about this tech 15 years ago thinking it would only be a few years away back then. But still nothing substantial. Flexible displays are what I want to see from it. I don't mean curved displays, but actual flexible displays that you can roll up and put in your pocket or briefcase.

An oled TV is top on my list it would look amazing, I would not buy an oled computer because of the white/light high power usage (battery) and burn-in with static icons, oled is best for video and photo`s in my opinion at the moment, but keep the image moving.

    Looks great except:

    1. Price
    2. Questions about longevity of an OLED screen (definitely want it to last with the price)
    3. Aspect ratio

4K and 120 Hz is a great combination though. And OLEDs are so pretty. Still, I'd much rather take the 30" UltraSharp at 2560x1600 at this point. They're still expensive, but much less so. And to actually take advantage of 4K at 120 Hz, I'd need a couple H2 2016 14nm GPUs in SLI or CrossFire.

Give it a few years to mature and come down in price though, and it could be quite interesting.

Indeed. Price critical, and if price high, longevity very critical, and aspect ratio must be suited for modern wishes. Better to wait until they get the kinks out of new technology.

After some searching I got my hands on Tab S 10.5 yesterday. Running some oled-tv demos from youtube in a dark room was pretty amazing sight, even when I knew what to expect.

Basically that just made my future more expensive. My plan for big 4k passive 3d is now definitely also oled. I just don't want it to cost more than my car :)
