I'm looking for some headphones for my new Vaio Z. I will be watching alot of movies on this computer and I'm trying to decide between wired vs. wireless headphones. I don't want to spend more than $100. If wired headphones offer superior quality then I would prefer that over the convinence of wireless. On or Around-Ear o.k. (no canals). Portability a plus.

The Best: http://www.provantage.com/plantronics-pulsar-590e~7PLAM021.htm
590A about $40 more right at your $100 budget but you get a 1/8" adapter to use them with any none bluetooth device with a headphone jack and a cool dock charger. -
Bluetooth audio quality is definitely inferior to wired quality. However, unless you are an audiophile you wouldnt notice much of a difference. Generally you can get a much better sounding pair of wired headphones for the price you pay for an above average BT headset.

I am a semi audiophile I have high end headphone and equipment at home.
The slight loss of quality is nothing in comparison to the convenience, portability, and capability of a good BT headphones.
There is no way im going to stuff my huge A700's in a bag on the go. If your just using them for home then I guess its ok, but on the go or out in public, no way.
Then I absolutely hate packing and unpacking anything with cords, its time consuming and they tend to get in the way or tangled. Just my power brick is more than enough for me.
I cant tell you how much I enjoy being able to roam the entire office while listening to music from my own private radio station being broadcast from my laptop
It could never happen with cords in the way, also I move around a lot at my desk while working, again cords would get in my way and I would probably snag it possibly breaking my laptop or my headphones.
I use my BT headphones all the time it was a great investment, the wired headphones are for the PC, the wireless are for the laptop. Thus pair unportable with unportable and portable with portable.
Thats just my 2 cents. -
I have corded HiFi phones (AKG K270) for home use, and for underway BT A2DP Logitech Freepulse. the Logitechs provide suprisingly acceptable sound quality for their price (I paid 26€
. I have yet not found good BT headphones, which ones exactly do you use vicious?
btw, from technical aspects: BT A2DP should itself not have any effect on the sound quality, rather even be better than a cable because the data is transferred digitally without loss. you can't have a 100% transmission via an analog cable. the limiting factor for the BT phones sound quality must be the DAC in them (or the speakers itself, of course). -

The Plantronics 590A are what I use nons
Those guys have done nothing but make headsets for like 15 years and they are still in business so you know they are doing something right.
I used to love my DSP500's from them too, amazing quality for the size & price. -
ah, ok, didnt see you were the one who posted before
still, this would be a class (or two, hehe) too low for home listening. I have yet to see/hear dedicated HiFi BT headphones (~200-400$). But I'll stop hijacking this thread now, my next investion will be nearfield monitors anyways and not BT headphones as I dont mind the cable at home and am completely satisfied with my AKGs -
Thanks for the feedback.

No problem.
I use them at home too when I want too, so I can lay in bed with them, a cord means I cant roll over or again it will get snagged.
Range is good enough I can que up music on my desktop and listen to it in the kitchen or in the living area (when its the 9000th rerun of sponge bob, music helps fight of the insanity)
I always use my A700's on my desktop when gaming if I cant use the big speakers though.
