I have a Lenovo G550 laptop as a second computer. It's been reliable but recently the power adapter failed. The original adapter output specifications were 19V, 3.42A. The replacement is 19V, 4.74A. Is it ok to use the replacement with 4.74A output? The seller says it's ok, and that it'll simply charge the battery faster.
Thanks in anticipation.

As long as the charger is compatible with your laptop model, then you should be fine.
It is perfectly fine to use a 4.74A laptop charger on a laptop that only accepts 3.42A. Your laptop will only pull 3.42A, even though the charger is capable of outputting up to 4.74A. It will not charge the laptop battery faster. And you will not "fry" your laptop by giving it too much current.
But of course, be sure that the charger is compatible with your laptop. The bigger issue is making sure that the power adapter plug actually physically fits your laptop's AC port. -
Thanks you for your very helpful response Kent1146. I believe the charger is compatible and the adapter plug does fit. I was primarily concerned that the higher charge might fry the laptop so thanks for your reassurance. I'll go ahead and try it.

I have a replacement power adapter named RAVPower ARTS65A-RA for my Dell Inspiron 9200. The values on it is as follows: input:100-240V 1.5A 50-60Hz output:19.5V--4.62A
Now I want to use it on the other laptop. the original adapter of it is 19V 4.74A. The connector is the same. Since the voltage and the current is quite close, I wonder if I can use the replacement adapter on this laptop.can you give an advice? -
