As long as the power supply is auto switching between 100 and 240 volt, all you need is an adapter to convert the UK power plug to one for US sockets.

How do i know if it is auto switching ??
It does say the following on the laptops ac adapter
input 100-240v~1.5A(1.5A),50-60Hz
output 19v-3.16A(3.16A)
But nothing else, does this mean its auto switching or am i missing something??
And what do you mean when you say an adapter, is that just a standard usa 2 pin to uk 3 pin adapter.
Sorry for being so thick lol but i dont want to blow up my laptop and my fiancee had to buy a step down converter when she came over here.
Thanks for your post. -

Pretty much any notebook made in the last several years will be auto switching. When I traveled to France two years ago, all I needed was a converter plug for the AC adapters for my various gadgets I brought and they all worked fine.
You'll need something like this:
UK to USA / Canada Travel Adaptor Brand New: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics -
Thank you, your help is appreciated
